So I went last friday to get my 15k service and I assumed they changed oil and oil filter but they didn't... I waited almost 1 hour and a half just to get my tires rotated?!?! (at least I marked them to be sure they did it)

So, am I missing something here?

Shouldn't our trucks (2.7l) get an oil and oil filter replacement every 5k!? Wtf...

Please if someone knows more about this explain me if this is usual?

Ps: if this is "normal" f. it... I'm going to change the oil and filter by myself... now I know why they offer "free" maintenance....

What does your manual say is the recommended 15k service?

I believe the 2.7 is running synthetic and only changed every 10k miles.

It says to change oil if truck is under stress.. towing, heavy loads..

I'm not mechanic or engineer man but I'm so used to change my oil every 5k..if it's normal to skip oil change at this point, I'll do it myself just for my peace of mind..

It's normal to skip the oil change at this point.

If you're curious, you can do an oil analysis to confirm whether or not you should spend the money on a 5k oil change. I'd go with what the nice folks at toyota recommend... and be willing to bet that it's still overkill.

Stealership isn't trying to cheat you if that's what your manual says. They're going to follow Toyota's guidelines. So, whatever the manual says for 15k is what they're supposed to do.

There's a dealer recommended service and factory recommended service. They aren't the same and you need to figure out which you paid for.

I will let Toyota do the free oil change at 10k and 20k. I changed it myself at 5k and will do it at 15k. Keep in mind if you do it yourself, you have to drop the skid plate and it does use a cartridge type filter. Here is another thread on this topic.

My manual says every 5k, so I mark my filter and tires before.going in for a service. I would take it back if your manual states the oil should be changed, regaRd less if it is full senthetic.

Your 2nd Gen has a different maintenance schedule than 2016 and 2017 models

You've done an oil analysis? Please post the results, I know we'd love to see what Blackstone said about your Tacoma's oil at 5k miles.

My truck will never see a dealer for any Toyota "care" maintenance, I'll do it myself, that way it's done right.
