I'm 20 mpg average city/hwy and about 22-23 hwy only, worst I've gotten so far is 18. Better than my lifted 15 that got 17-18 and my lifted 11 that got 16 lol. I'm also 4wd. For me the interior is the sweet spot, its gorgeous, well built and so freaking quiet.

It goes fine but no where near as quick as a 2nd gen, I've owned both bud, don't kid yourself, its a fine engine, but the acceleration has something to desire compared to the old 4.0.

Love the way the 2016 looks inside and out. Just don't like the way mine performs/drives/squeaks. Just dropped at dealer for rear differential replacement. We will see how it goes.

No root cause yet but it was howling / droning on the freeway when under low throttle load to no throttle load. Can consistently reproduce the noise when on a flat stretch of highway if I set cruise control to say 65mph then back off 1mph at a time. I have a thread on it here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/posts/12783927/

Yes thank you others here have already had their rear end replaced and another handful are also reporting the same howling issue. Some dealers are saying it is 'normal' and giving folks the run around....my dealer acknowledged it was NOT normal.

Other issue I am having is my squeaking rear leaf springs. They are on the 3rd repair attempt now. After 4 repair attempts without solution the truck will reach AZ Lemon Law requirement. Service manager says he has several 2016s come in with this issue and does not believe they will have a solution to this issue any time soon but he does believe it is something Toyota is aware of and working on. No timeline for permanent resolution however.

So glad I skipped the second gen so I can just enjoy my truck and be blissfully ignorant of what a giant step back Toyota made with the Tacoma :bananadance:
