Hi, I'm a new member that needs some help. My PreRunner TRD Sport has the V6 + auto trans. My window sticker says the truck has a automatic limited slip differential + a locking rear differential. My truck does have the rear differential lock button in the overhead console. My problem is that nothing happens when I press that switch, no dash indicator lamp comes on. The only button in the overhead console that does anything is the Auto LSD switch. When I press it everything seems to work as the owner manual explains. So my question is: why am I not seeing a rear differential lock indicator in the dash when I press the button?? ( I've tried pressing it in both park + neu)
Thanks for any information you can provide!

From what I understand you have to be in 4LO for it to activate. You can try doing that on pavement, but make sure you stay in a straight line, and slow speeds.

Jim did you see my post above? Also if you double check the manual that'll tell you how to use it.

    Like, so many.
Could you send a picture or the diff lock button? A TRD Sport should not have a rear diff lock.

My window sticker says this 2WD PreRunner has a locking rear differential, not sure how to upload photos to this site. My overhead console only has 2 switches, one is VSC SWITCH ( image of a vehicle with 2 curly tracks) and the other is a Rear Differential lock switch (image of 4 tires with a X over the rear axle) Hope this explains how my truck is equipped. My manual says to just press the switch to activate it, the info is somewhat misleading.

Hmmm, interesting. Have you tried it with the truck in the lowest gear?

Try holding it down for 3 to 5 seconds or turn off Trac control first then hold rear diff lock for 3 to 5 seconds.

Can you get a picture of your rear differential? It’ll look similar to this, although this picture is off a 1st gen from google.

Why? He said he has a diff lock button and that he's got an OR.

The rear locker is the symbol on the right? If that's what you have and it won't engage then try holding it down till the light comes on in the dash. The light will look exactly like the switch if my memory serves me.

If that don t work id take it in for warranty.
