Well my 16 TRD OR 4x2 has a seeping rear diff... my diff was inspected at 23k for the same seeping and they cleaned it and told me to monitor it to see if it continues. 23k later and my diff looks like this. my dealer told me my trucks Vin doesn't fall under the TSB that is out so they will need to charge a $145 fee to inspect. they said if they find it to be warranty then they will refund the $145 but if its not im SOL. i did do the diff breather relocation mod at the advise of this shops former shop foreman. too broke to front the $145. lmk what y'all think..

I would think since you pointed it out to them in the past that it would still qualify under warranty, you can always open a case with Toyota too.

This is BS they need to do the TSB free of charge. They already have the fix.

You shouldnt have to put money up front then get refunded if they determine it does fall under warranty/TSB. Thats not how it works. The dealership is supposed to look at it, make a call to the warranty department and explain the situation, then let you know if they approve or not. Then if not you decide how to proceed, whether to go ahead and fix at your cost, or you come pick up the vehicle and pay nothing. You dont even need to pay for them to look at it, they eat that labor cost( at least they should).
    Definitely file a case.

A TSB doesn't fall on to a set of vins. A recall does. A TSB is not a recall

Have you seen a Toyota TSB. They do specify Vins on almost all the ones I've seen.

Go back to the dealer and tell them you are going to open a case with Corporate.
Good chance you will get a different reaction from them......

Definately looks like warranty to me. No reason for that diff to leak like that unless there is a bad seal.

Yup. Tacos lined up at my dealer for months. Had to wait for the part to become available, poor bastards! Counted 8 at my dealer. Didn't think it involved 4x2, thought it was limited to OR models, but I guess you never know.

Take this to dealer and tell them the inspection is complete, and charge them 145 dollars.

I had two very minor spots and my truck was not on the recall lsit. Short story, brought it to their attention, kept my truck due to the VERY minor spots, and they fixed it as soon as the parts came it under warranty. Try another dealer or open a case.
