So, today I go to a shop the can get me the fairly new Falken Wildpeak AT 3W tire. So, the counter dude says what year is your truck? I reply, "2016". He then says, "what do you need tires for"? I said, "you're right". I turned around and left. Then I go to another shop and ask for the same tire. Well, they can get them overnight but "you won't like them they'll be noisy as hell" "Are you gonna climb some mountains"? This time I just turned around and walked out. I guess locally, (Richmond, VA. area) I can't get what I want. Wish there was a Discount Tire nearby. But, then I think what if the tires I have shipped can't be balanced. Have never ordered tires before. Man, it's hard to spend money around here!!

Go to tirerack.com and have the tires shipped to you.

I've never had a problem ordering online from tirerack.com. Have you checked to see if they can get them to you. They also usually have local shops they can recommend for shipment and install.

If they're anything like the wild peaks I had on my tundra, you'll love them. Put 30k on them and still looked new, always got traction when I needed it offroad, decent price and not loud at all.

Some people were never meant to be in sales. Thank god for the internet. No one ever gives me attitude when I'm shopping in my browser.

Just go here. Americas tire is the only place I buy tires. Their customer service is great. I live in California but I'm sure they'll do a good job for you.

Never mind. Wrong place. Discount tires is the sister company and the closest one is 2 hours away in North Carolina

Or you can check Amazon if you know the size and load rating you want and have them shipped for free if you have prime.

Sounds like they were doing you a favor. Wear out the OEM tires then upgrade later. Your wallet with thank you.

If you know what you want, go to a reputable tire shop and tell them what you want. Don't let their opinions sway you.

They didn't refuse to sell you tires. The first shop asked why, the second shop just gave you advice that may not be accurate and you didn't want. While they both thought they were trying to be helpful the way I respond to idiots like these who couldn't sell a steak to a starving man is usually "thanks for your advice, now how much for the tires?". Even if you order online someone still has to put them on which means you have to go back to these fools. Sometimes telling people it's none of their business what you do, just give me what I want is the way to go.

Man I've been having the same problem. Go into a shop asking about tires and then have them give you a million reasons why you don't want the ones you're asking about, whereas the place before thinks the tires you're asking about are the bomb.

Got my truck last july, tires that came on it are done now and trying to replace them. I've been considering duratracs but wherever I go each shop has drastically different opinions, and its a PIA

You said you go to a shop, they tell you the tires are the bomb then the next shop tries to give you every reason not to buy those tires. I'm saying, buy them from the shop before that told you they were 'bomb' as you put it. Personally I wouldn't want to drive around on bombs....

Depending on the oem tire it may be better to put new tires on earlier if you tend not to keep your cars and trucks past 3 years. Usually at that point OEM are done and you still need to put tires on at some point. If the incremental cost gets you a better tire, for example snow traction or off road ability for that time frame then it is worth it especially if you sell your old ones to offset the price.
