For me, I just don't like all the angled edges on the new truck. It almost makes it look plasticky and cheap. The 2nd gens and even the 1st gens are just simple good looking trucks that will have that classic truck look 10 years from now. Not sure how to qualify it, but there are some vehicle styles that you can look back at many years later and say - "Damn that's still a good looking vehicle" and then there are others that have styling cues or lines that were clearly a fad for a couple of years and you look at them in hindsight and wonder what the design team was thinking...

I also just don't need the latest greatest thing. I like having the older, tried and true truck. The day a 3rd gen pulls next to me at a redlight, I will be proud of my Tacoma:rofl: I even envy first gens when they drive by.

How many people have made comments about Mike Sweers not always telling the truth. If GM, Nissan, possibly Ford returning with the Ranger and they are all offering Diesels. Toyota will have to look at offering one. Which they already have, all the need to do is add some emission controls for the North American market. The key will be how many people actually are buying Diesels in the midsize market. You might see a initial rush on sales for the Diesel Colorado then the sales might drop off.

In another thread some one posted this link from 2004 on the 2 gens...

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gene...ta-tacoma.html#/forumsite/21027/topics/274364

Read though it, it's full of people bashing the look of the new, at the time, 2 gen. It's almost scary how similar the comments are to the comments on the 3 gens here.

In my opinion, there has never been a Toyota pickup (going back before Tacoma) or 4 runner that I didn't grow to love the look of. I'm thinking the 3rd gens will do the same.

Mike Sweers already confirmed Toyota is not going to bring diesel to any of their vehicles in North America for the long term

    Salesperson is full of crap

    The better coast

That front lip helps bump mpg up a little. Take rit off and you'll see a decrease.

Looks like a vechicle interior to me....How would you make it not a car interior...?

How is it a car engine?

And have you compared official cab space numbers? Even if the cabs are identical on the outside because of more compact airbags/moldings etc.

I don't know anyone, except maybe a domestic truck buyer, who had to grow to love toyota pickups through the 1st gen tacoma. That's the classic toyota truck look.

More HP than torque, high reving. That about answers that.

They thinned the door trim/panels and the center console is smaller. Still the same cab.
