Looking to go with a taller tire . I have just about a 3 " lift with 265/70/16s now. If I get a 17 " rim what would be the biggest tire I could use ? And does that 17 " rim add to the height or just make for a bigger hole in the tire??  :eek:

17 doesnt add to the height anything. the only thing that makes a height difference is the 1st and 2nd numbers on the tires size

can i ask why you want to go to 17's? the only reason i could see is for a 6" DP lift or spending more money on tires, neither of which would be a selling point for me personally

I think my tire size is maxed out for a 16" rim. Just want to know if 17" will let me go with taller tire ? Thanks

your thing says 265/70/16, getting a 265/75/16 will give you a taller tire.

if you want a really tall tire, that offers great gas mileage look into getting 255/85/16. a little narrower than your 265 but has a diameter of 33.1" over your 31.6"

Here's my 2 cents... if you have 265/70/16s and went to 265/70/17s you would gain nothing in tire wall height but you would gain 1" in rim diameter obviously. Sounds like you want to fill up the wheel well and going to 17's would help I guess.

From what I am hearing here and on the net 16's are best.

What size tire do you have that maxed out the 16's?

I think you can put like 35's on a 15 inch wheel...

I guess I could go with the 265/75s. Looking to get rims and tires for the summer and keep what I have for the winter. That is why all the questions about 17 " rim . Sounds like I should stick with 16s and go with 265/75s to gain 1.04 inches .

The calculator is 100% accurate. For instance, my 265/75-16 Duractracs are actually 31.25" tall.
Nope. You can fit them on a 3" lift.

You can get a 37 on a 15. The only thing that's the limiting factor is the width to thw wheel width.
