It's covering a cut for rust prevention but also to protect your tires because without the plate you just have a really sharp piece of metal exposed there.

That said, I ran post-cut, pre-plate for a couple weeks until I got around to it with 35s and no issues. Just wouldn't recommend it.

On my 2015 I fit a 285/75 on method 305s which is 16x8 with 0 offset, also with a 3-inch lift and I have no rubbing after I removed the mudflaps.

Ok it reading the entire thread but but going by op original question. I have scs 16x8 rims stealth 6’s and running 285/75/16’s, with Toyo at tires. I had to do Cmc esp when backing up, in which I need to trim some more but it’s the plastic that is the main issue and not cab mount.

I have 265/75/16 Duratracs on my stock OR wheels and am transferring over to 16×8/0 offset in 2 days. Lifting next month with the works. CMC, UCA's and front bumper replacement. Would you say I could get away with no rubbing til then? I'm about to find out anyway, just lookin for feedback. Lol

Hey, did you have any rubbing with the 265/75/16 and 16x8 0 offset wheels before lifting? I'm about to pull the trigger on 16x8 0 offset Method 701's and LT265/75R16 (Load E) Falken Wildpeak's and I have stock TRD OR suspension.

this is the way I rolled with 285/75R16 KO2 because I wanted to make sure no rubbing on and off road and good alignment. 2" lift and CMC and because I didn't want to futz around with a little slice here and push the fender liner there I bit the bullet on a viper cut. The CMC and viper cut are chaep compared to the suspension. As well went with SPC UCA to ensure proper alignment (You can probably get away the the OEM UCA though). The good thing is I am set up to go bigger (34 or 35) if I ever get to that point which so far I kind of doubt because I have plenty of clearance for what I do off road (not a rock crawler just moderate trails and sometimes some technical challenges but nothing too severe - maybe if I gain more skill I'll re-access).
