I was searching a similar question last week when I was shopping for a TRD Pro and ended up deciding I had to have the 2020. Minor changes each year between the 17/18/19 but Lots of new stuff comes in 2020 like the newer wheels, remote start, CarPlay, 360 camera, power seat, new headlights.

Toyota completely botched that ridiculous Snorkel, it should have been an after the purchase Dealer installed option. I think they ended up with alot of Pro's just sitting on the lots because people didn't like them.

They’re not bad. I’ve had ko2 on all my trucks, they last a long time and do great in the snow!

    2021 changes:

Has permanent compass in the rear view mirror. Edit: depends on configuration

They also seem to have made dual zone automatic climate control standard equipment.

These statements are for TRD Off Road 4x4 trim with AT. Not sure it holds true for other configurations. Toyota does weird stuff sometimes.

Edit: realized this thread is about PRO model, but maybe this info is useful to someone.

Lol, ya pro and there’s a tonnn more little changes like those actually between years like homelink no homelink, aux cooler, etc. if we are talking all trims. Also premium optioned trucks don’t have the compass in the mirror, my 17 had the compass as well.

Oddly enough, my 2021 Pro does not have a rear view mirror compass built in.

Neither does my OR with homelink. I think it is either homelink or compass readout now, but not both.

Yep, the homelink optioned trucks don’t have the built in compass. The homelink mirror changed too between 19 and 20. 20 has little arrows that indicate.

FYI ; The compass is not in the rear view mirror in the '21 - the compass available in the -in dash info screen... (and it is a little compass that spins not just indicating major cardinal points.
I do not mind this as the mirror compass tends to be quite bright at night and not dimmable (not sure if this is the case in the tacoma , but it is true in other cars...)

Yes for premium optioned with homelink trucks like the PRO there is no compass built into the mirror as we already discussed, however non premium optioned trucks still have the compass.

My 21 had the compass in the mirror, but no Homelink and no compass on the dash.

My wife's 19 has Homelink with the arrows, but no compass. Hers does have it on the dash.

I just put a mirror from Bob's Mirrors with a compass and Homelink buttons in my 21.

    Why trade in a 19 for a 21? Doesn’t seem like a good idea

I don’t think it’s been mentioned but I think (not 100% positive) the 2017 and 18 TRD exhaust tips were traditional Chrome and 2019+ We’re Black Chrome.

Probably not for most. I'm not choked by finances and I'm really not losing much. They're giving me 41k on my 19 and it's got an accident on the carfax, plus all the bs upgrades that should've been on it in the first place is a huge factor for me (led lights, power seats, android auto, front cam, lighter wheels, etc).

Does anyone know if the 21 jbl system is any different from the 19 and do the touch sensors on the pass door come as standard eqp?
