does anyone know whether or not the chrome rings around the vents are removeable? I keep seeing a reflection from them in the door windows & it's annoying as hell. I was hoping that after tinting my windows that would fix it and it didn't so I am contemplating painting the rings black.

There's no reason for this post other than the obligatory tagging of @smitty99.

I honestly don't know if you can remove them or not but you could always find some paint that's close to the color of your truck and paint them.

Well it's a defective design by Toyota to put a chrome trim ring around the vents and it can reflect causing the driver some annoyance. It's also possible that in a short time the chrome will start flaking and we will need someone to start a poll on how shitty of a design it is and how many other are effected. Another area of concern is a "howling" noise from the trim ring when the fan speed is set at 4 or greater. If you have that your vehicle is a lemon and you need to contact an attorney right away

On a serious note though, the chrome around the shifter bugs the shit outta me. It's constantly reflecting the sun into my eyes. I haven't had that issue with the trim around the vents though.

I think i'll call Toyota corporate tomorrow and complain. /sarcasm

I actually don't like chrome so I would be interested in a solution also.

I remember someone here complaining about this a while back which brought it to my attention and it annoyed me. I've since forgot how annoying it was and it doesn't bother me any more. o_O:eek:

I looked into this. The tabs on the back will certainly break. You'll have to glue them back down. I seriously thought about doing it. They aren't that hard to get at. You need to get them from the back though.

I'll investigate more when I remove the radio to do my stereo.
