My Savage has a "bull" barrel, it's not that heavy, the action is small and has a synthetic stock so that makes up for the heavy barrel. I can shoot mag after mag out of it and barrel heat has little to no effect on accuracy.

It's not bad cause you shoot a lot of hornady ammo with no change in accuracy from heat buildup.

I shoot .22, i love it. Buy a ruger 10/22 and use the money you save on ammunition to mod the hell out of it, .17 is expensive

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
I just got an Annie 22lr....164...amazing accuracy.
You guys don't really shoot whitetails with a 17hmr?...that's just brutal to the animal.
I had a CZ 17HMR and it was cool, but I wasn't that impressed with the cartridge....It was affected by the wind too easily.
I can shoot 22lr just about as well out to 100yds as I could 17HMR, and it's a lot cheaper.
Buy a good bolt 22lr and find out what ammo it likes.

    Nada yet, just a Bestop
I needed a cheap farm rifle for those varmint cong. Didn't want to spend too much $$ because it would get used and abused.
    Mossberg 817 .17hmr $99 on sale at Dick's
BSA Sweet 17 scope $45 on sale at Sportsmens Guide
    Harris bipod $39 Dick's
    Padded sling $20 ???
Total $205 and it eats Hornady 17 grain ammo all day.
40 dead chucks and counting. No hicups, no misfires. Keep it clean.

The price of 17HMR really doesnt justify it. For a couple more beans than a standard 50rd box of 17hmr, you can have a 50rd box of 223...

    Sense... This does not make.
Especially since 1 is reloadable, and the other gets shit-canned.

Also, on hte quick note of 22lr, vs 17hmr. You CANT suppress 17HMR to save its life.

As much as a 17 would be fun and just simply a different caliber for your collection, 10-22 has the most aftermarket accessories u could imagine. And they have proven themselves years on end. Have one myself. But since I already have one, I want a 17. Also for price range 1022 would be the way to go. And in te future can mod it like your taco.

Decided to get the .17hmr, It will be used for hunting, squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, whatever, not all of that tactical shit.

Went to Dick's Sporting Goods and picked up a Marlin xt-17. Heavy barrel, adj. trigger, 4&7 rd magazine. Now i've got to get a scope. Can't wait to try it out!
