I'm looking into a local set of six shooters and am wondering if anyone has used them with the Maxtrac Spindle lift, which I plan to do on my 3rd gen. I want to make sure they'll clear everything nicely with 32s or 33s maybe

Oops. The ones I found are 17x8 with the 0 offset and 4.5 inch backspace. I'm wondering if anybody ran into any trouble due to the offset when installing the spindle lift

Those should be fine. 17x8 4.5 bs are good for 33’s, 35’s will work too but expect to rub on the frame rails at full lock and maybe the uca’s too. 1/4 inch clearance on the uca depending on the tires.

Just to clarify, flow-formed wheels are still cast. The casting is placed on a spin-former and the barrel of the wheel is stretched out into it's final shape, while the face of the wheel remains the same as cast. This allows the grain structure of the barrel part of the wheel to be optimized for strength and/or reduced material (lightness).

The pictures do not look like a barrel failure, the spokes themselves appear to have cracked (though I am just guessing). I do not know what kinds of non-destructive evaluation that FN Wheels uses to ensure quality, nor the use case in which it failed (we are taking @Gingerbeard Man at his word) but it's very possible that there was a casting flaw in this one particular wheel. If I were Konig, I would try to get ahold of this wheel to see if a failure mode could be determined. Though any catastrophic failure is undesirable, the sheer number of wheels sold compared to the infinitesimal examples of failure show that Konig has excellent safety margins and defective product control.

I own and use a set of six shooters on my own truck. I am happy with them and will not be switching wheels.

I’m fairly certain I covered it earlier, but I’m sending the damaged wheel to Konig, the label has been printed and shipping out today. They asked and I had no reason not to send it to them. Again, the truck has never been wheeled or abused.

Nor will I. But it was a frightening thing to read about nonetheless

The 17x8" +0mm offset Six Shooters will definitely clear your Maxtrack spindle lift with 33" (285/70R17) tires. We've tested and installed this exact application many times of over the years.

The Six Shooters come in 17", and a similar, but not identical, wheel called the Countersteer Offroad comes in 16".

Absolutely correct. 35" tires are a challenging fit on a Tacoma with just about any wheel/tire/suspension combination, but 33" will work well with the aforementioned spindle lift.

Also absolutely correct. The centers (spokes) of flow formed wheels are the same as cast wheels. The barrel of the wheel is formed over a mandrel with heat and pressure, which creates a more uniform grain structure providing better strength across the barrel when compared to a non-flow formed barrel. The barrel of a properly flow formed wheel is comparable to that of a forged wheel, but the spokes remain the same as the base casting method used to form them.

With the wheel in question : the wheel is being returned to Konig for analysis. More than 200 units were produced and sold from the same batch code / manufacturing date as the one wheel in question (and many thousands of Six Shooter wheels in total over the life of the wheel before we released the new flow formed Six Shooters), and this is the first report of any failure. The customer in question owned and used the wheels for 4 years. We take any claim very seriously, but unfortunately we nor Konig can provide an unlimited, no questions asked, lifetime and all expenses paid warranty.

We hope that our customers and potential customers draw the same conclusion as you when you stated:

"Though any catastrophic failure is undesirable, the sheer number of wheels sold compared to the infinitesimal examples of failure show that Konig has excellent safety margins and defective product control.

I own and use a set of six shooters on my own truck. I am happy with them and will not be switching wheels."

Thank you very, very much for being a customer and for reading between the lines.

Thank you as well for being our customer. I also know that you've owned, enjoyed, and in your own words thoroughly abused your wheels without issue for quite some time now. Anyone can post anything on the internet (including posting pictures intended to startle or frighten you) with or without full context and without you being privy to the motives.

We have sold and continue sell tens of thousands of our wheels and our Konig exclusive wheels every year for 15+ years, and Konig wheels has sold and sells hundreds of thousands of wheels every year for 35+ years. We don't expect nor would we ask everyone of those thousands of customers to post a daily journal update letting us all know that they're enjoying and getting use out of their wheels without any problems. You might see a post here and there when someone gets a new set of wheels, or when they go on a cool trip, or an update after they've had their wheels for many years and the wheels still look like new. However, when one motivated customer has an issue, and especially if the resolution to that problem doesn't immediately go the way they demanded (i.e. an immediate, no questions asked, full and total refund for all four wheels after 4 years and unlimited mileage/use), then with a particular motivation you might see a post that startles you. We have a well established reputation for erring in favor of the customer whenever it is even remotely possible or reasonable to do so, but we can't give away no questions asked, full and immediate refunds over the phone after 4 years of use of the product without properly assessing the claim.

    These will
Nice looking rims for sure. Tacoma owners should think about the large amount of open space in these. As you know we have drums in the rear of our trucks. These may not do justice to the look of rusty drums.

Awesome. Would you happen to have any pics of that particular setup on a 3rd gen?

Also, is there a way to order just one rim to have a full size spare?

Looks good if you keep up on it! Most calipers are rusty as well as a rust ring that starts right where the pads stop touching the rotors. Would definitly look good with slotted and drilled rotors and some Wilwood's or Brembo's all the way around.

Below are my rims of choice for trucks. If they made a 6 lug for Tacomas I'd have them already. They keep the ugly in and the dirt and nasty's out.

I have photos of the spindle lift with the Six Shooters on a 2nd Gen Tacoma, but not a 3rd Gen. I haven't received any photos from customers who have a spindle lift + Six Shooters, and unfortunately we do not own a 3rd Gen with a spindle lift to photograph.

You can definitely purchase a single (or any quantity) from us.

Looks clean! I keep my drums painted too.

Thanks for posting photos of your matte gunmetal Six Shooters! To anyone wondering, we offer graphite gunmetal (high gloss) and matte gunmetal. Matte gunmetal is a little lighter than graphite (but not a light color overall) and it has a satin matte clear coat.

@JdMeF9SiR2 on the 17x8 six shooters, how har is the poke out past the fenders on a second gen Tacoma? Also, does the TRD center cap on them without modifying the cap??

Edit......do you have a pic of this wheel in the machines aluminum?

@JdMeF9SiR2 also, on instagram I saw the Verge model. What will be the specs and color availability on those? As well as the TRD center cap fitment?

    Sorry for all the questions.....
