Here is the deal, I recently purchased a 2019 TRD Offroad 4x4 Sport. I just purchased the new 315 Method race wheels in gold/black (They look rad, excited to get them on the truck!). They should show up to the house today. After debating between 17x8.5/9s I went with the 9s.

The why, is not that I was concerned really but the 8.5 have zero Offset and 4.75 BS but 9s offered a -12mm Offset and 4.50 BS. IMO, felt the 9s would look more aggressive and better on the truck!

My main question is tire's, currently I have stock Firestone Destination LE2 265/65/70s. I know they will fit but I want to potentially just throw on new rubber with a more aggressive look.

What is my best case? (As it pertains to tires with wheels I bought, to relatively have no clearance/UCA issues on stock suspension?)

265/70/17 or 275/70/17??? (I really like Toyo A/T II and have had them in past and solid tires, open to other suggestions??)

PLEASE ONLY CHIME IN/RESPOND IF YOU HAVE VIABLE INFO AND COMMON KNOWLEDGE!
    I appreciate the feedback!

I was doing a deep dive in most of those threads already and it seems that the consensus is 265/70/17. That's what I'm leaning towards bc I want to be pragmatic/ I want it to look good and not really run into any issues. Just wanted to potentially get some others perspectives based upon wheels I bought. Thanks bro!

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't the 9" wheel sit closer to the UCA because of the 4.75 backspace vs the 4.5? The 265's will have less potential rubbing issues.

The wheels will he pushed out a .25” going from 4.5” to 4.75”, but that’s eaten up by the 12mm difference in offset. The 17x9 with a +12 offset and 4.75” backspacing will sit about 6MM closer to the UCA’s vs the 17x8.5.

Sorry guys to provide clarity offset is -12 (Negative). Thanks for info, I assumed most would say stick to 265/70/17s.

    .

Does this still hold true with negative offset?? Would you say run 265/70 vs 275/70?? I admittedly am not the common knowledge guru when it comes to wheels at all but know my way around a truck.

It should. I always thought backspace was the measurement from the mounting face of the wheel to the inside lip of the wheel. Offset is the mounting face location relative to wheel centerline.

Edit: You sure those measurements are correct? an 8.5" wheel with 0 offset should be 4.75 BS and the 9" with -12 should be 4.5, if I understand wheel measurements correctly lol.

Makes more sense now! Ya the 9" wheel will sit further from the UCA then.
