    Hello TW,
Well my beautiful black '16 SR AC 4x4Blacky.jpg was rear ended a month ago and after fighting with State Farm for two weeks, I've finally come to realize she is totaled with a bent frame. No pleading about replacing the frame would change their mind as they could not be responsible for any further damages in the future. Just can't afford the $8-$10k to replace the frame myself.
Since I can't find another '16 black SRAC with <20k mi anywhere in the southeast, I am thinking about ordering me a '17 black SRAC or going with the black '17 SRDC.
For some reason I just like the looks of the SR, I know it's a base truck without all the accessories, just wanted TW's opinion.
I loved my '16 SRAC 4cy with its 6ft long bed and quirky 4cyl and 6 speed. When I needed to jet around town I would engage the ECT mode and it zipped along just fine. Had no trouble carrying a load of sand or lumber or towing my boat and off-road it was just as capable as my '95 Taco Xtra Cab. Also I have not seen another black SRAC anywhere around. I know nothing about the '17 SRDC 6cy except what I've read on the forums.
I really don't need a DC except a few times, kids all grown up but you sure can't fit 4 adults into an AC. Is the 6cy a good engine? Is the DC and short bed worth the extra $4k? Anybody regret getting the short bed? I'm leaning towards the SRDC at $31k vs the SRAC at $27k just because I'm getting $25k for my totaled '16 SRAC. Your thoughts? and thanks.

I bought a AC tacoma in 2003. I kept it for 8 years until I realized it was no longer practical for carrying people around and being an adult in general. If I was old and retired I might go back to the access cab or if I was a high-school kid. If I had bought the double cab back then I don't think I ever would have changed trucks

I can see the DC being more versatile across different situations.

If your household already has a reliable passenger car, it can be great to also have a simple 2-seater truck with 6' bed for hauling large loads and/or items (furniture, appliances etc). Plus it looks and feels much cooler driving a 2-seater truck IMO.

If you're planning to use it more as a "car" (aka carrying people around) but you still want a truck then you need the DC.

Thanks TBV, there were times I could only take two people on the trail, I could not ask my buddy to sit in the back of my AC while rock crawling.

I would prefer an AC for myself.

AC 4cyl-DC 6cyl? Is it just preference for everyone? or is the 6cyl better. I've enjoyed the 4cyl in my AC but does struggle towing my '17ft Bass Tracker.

SRAC , just replace the truck you had with a 17 if you liked it a lot
I have a black SR AC and I love it.

Do you need to know, or care?
If you're doing a lot of off-reading I'd go with the AC, but if more road driving, then DC. You would definitely feel a difference towing with the V6.

It's all a personal choice, get what feels right.

I've carried adults in the back of my AC and all I can think about is how I should've got a DC. But if I got a DC it must be a LB.

One of these days I'll get a DCLB and not have to regret anything at any point in time.

Thanks everyone! I've been thinking of rigging a bucket seat in the back of my next SRAC. I've searched but cannot find anyone that has tried to install a medium sized bucket seat in the back of an AC?

I'd say go for the double cab and V6, can't see anyone regretting going with a V6 over the 4cyl, also couldn't imagine you'd regret having the extra space, night and day when it comes to transporting people :) I'm partial to the DCLB myself

Go for AC 4cyl, the 2TR is a great engine. The DC was wasted space for me, plus wanted a long bed for wood (DCLB was too long for my tastes). I dont haul people, when I go out they usually want to bring their own cars. Speed limits around here are 35-40 and I dont tow, so no need for a v6.

I just went from a "15 SR5 DC to a "17 SR5 AC. I found the DC too long and less maneuverable. And I rarely used the back seats in the DC. Otherwise both trucks were fine. If I had bought the '15 as an AC, I'd still have it.

You guys are making it tough, found a red '16 SRAC w 12k for $26k or a new black '17 SRDC for $31k. Getting $25k for my totaled '16 SRAC.

For me: the AC with the 6' bed has a tighter turning radius, easier to park, and fits in the garage with room to spare. If I had passengers alot of the time, I'd go with the DC. Either way I wanted the 6 foot bed.
