+1. I lock mine in every gear on the track. I don't have enough tire to lock it on the street

I have a 2006 single cab silverado z71 and have an awd transfer case. If it weren't for that, I couldn't either. This thing can be rolling 50 mph and I could lay into in and blast the tires off (before awd t case) until I let off the skinny pedal lol. Scary but talk about a rush. Circle D makes a killer converter.

How do you like it? I've always wondered if I should have bought an AC M/T instead of my DCLB.

I run a FTI behind a 550+HP 6.0l. 11.5" wide michelins on the back have been known to come loose at 95mph

Those are cool. Almost ended up with one at one point but got an 05 ctsv....then hydro planed and totaled it. Yanked the motor and that's what in my single cab along with a magnacharger and some other stuff. I've been so on the fence of this trd pro, or a new denali 1500 with a magnacharger lol. Horsepower is addicting.

I drive my truck way more often than the car. Don't have to worry about road conditions or breaking anything in the truck.

All these '17 threads seem to go downhill fast.

I'm curious to see if the Pro gets a bespoke 6MT knob; I haven't seen any pictures of it yet. The knob on the other trims has a flimsy plastic feeling to it (if you push on the top with your thumb, it indents and makes a 'click' sound). But the actual transmission mechanism is quite satisfying (long-ish throws and all); I prefer 6MT due to the tactility, and the Taco 6MT has tactile merits. But then again, I like the 3 ft long shifter in our '91 F250 diesel.

You can like truck manuals with wholly different characteristics than sports car manuals. I test drove a 6MT GTI last month, and was disappointed with the overly-light/easy shift action. Honda S2000 is my all-time favorite manual; it's like a rifle bolt.

I wouldn't have bought this truck if it didn't have a manual. I test drove the automatic while my truck was on order just to see how it felt. Coming from a 4Runner with the 4.7 V8, it felt extremely unenthusiastic to drive.

While in the process of ordering my truck, my dealer told me my configuration wasn't available for the region. I'd either have to dump the tech package to get the manual or have the tech package with the auto. I told them I'd rather have a bare bones manual than a fully loaded auto. Luckily, they were somehow able to get me the exact truck I wanted, but no manual would have been a dealbreaker

Why do some people like sunroofs? Why do some people care about leather seats? Why do some people want a bitchin sound system?

Some people just like an MT. The fact that the tacoma is one of the few trucks left with it as an option means that someone will come along and want to get that option in the same sense that someone will want Red vs Black.

this is how i felt. i was looking at full size trucks too, but having a manual was a must have. that's one of the things that i've always loved about the tacoma, is having that option in something other than a stripped out parts truck

Yes it has a unique TRD Pro 6MT shift knob. It's similar to the TRD Pro automatic shift knob. You have to dig but there's pictures of it on here.

OK after much hemming and hawing I'm going to tell my dealer I want a Pro MANUAL. One of the worst feelings you can have is buyer's remorse. I'd rather buy the truck with a manual than buy an auto and wonder how the manual is. The bad news is during the last conversation I had with the inventory manager a week or two ago about getting a manual he told me I'd be lucky to get one before January. I can't believe it would take that long but we'll see. That would mean I'd have waited 11 MONTHS for this truck since the original announcement by Toyota and when I went down to the dealership. That would also mean I'd be missing out on hunting/camping season this year without my new Tacoma that I was really looking forward to. The automatic I ordered is supposed to be here around the end of September but I'd rather save a little money and get the manual instead of having a nagging feeling in the back of my mind. Can't get JBL either on the Pro so just another reason to get the manual.

    Stock for now
I use to hate automatics always said I would neve buy one, unreliable, stock they can't handle a lot of power, exspensive to rebuild, never in the gear I want ect..... BUT... Then I moved to Dallas and discovered Dallas traffic and let me tell you DD a car with a stage 2 clutch that's got a fairly heavy pressure plate sucks balls. I image it would still suck even with stock clutch when I ordered my Tacoma I went for the auto.

Nice sleuthing! That appears to be a render, but it looks good to me. Knob shape is similar to BMW's ZHP knob, albeit more squared off. Ergonomics are very good with that shape.

Me to. I test drove a truck almost identical to mine but an auto. After about 3 minutes I said its time for the 3rd pedal option.

I owned a 2006 STi with the Kartboy bushings and shifter stay and also owned a 2013 Tacoma in auto.

My 2016 is a manual and I very much enjoy driving it. The shifter is better than my STi was, pre-bushings and the clutch is significantly more forgiving. It's easier to drive than my Corvette.

The 2016 auto isn't very well liked around here but I enjoy driving my '16 more than my automatic '13 in day to day driving.
