OK thanks. I'm new to this stuff and rubbing anything sounds like a bad idea so yeah I'm hoping everything will be ok, especially off road. Out of curiosity though, is it true that you can get anything to rub even stock?

No clue. But my 265's rub every single time I pull into my driveway and have for 13 years. Other than making the noise and rubbing a little plastic off the mudflap, there is no issue. I think you're worrying about nothing. Just stay at 265 (or under) and you'll be fine.

Many people in this thread with third gens say no rubbing, unless you have mud flaps (which I don't). That includes driveways/bumps/off roading.

Off camber turns at full lock, usually when in reverse can rub at times, especially if you have mudflaps or the front airdam installed on the stock suspension with a +1 tire upsize depending on tire and wheel offset.

It may never rub, it may always rub, each truck is different and what might be present on one truck may not be present on yours.

I never rubbed on the stock suspension but I run a different tire than the KO2. I've never completely stuffed a tire because I don't rock crawl but I do enjoy offroading on fire trails, some mud and the beach.

    YMMV

Gotcha. So its still not a guarantee no matter what, I get it. I don't have the air dam, nor the flaps... so looks like I'll be good. If it just barely rubbed in very off camber/fully compressed situations I guess it doesn't really matter and not hurting anything. Anyways, I purchased the tires, but holding off on the wheels to bank some more cash for now.

If I go over a small bump and hear a loud rub sound, I'm blaming you guys!

haha jk. Thanks for all the help.

Anyone know what I can expect to pay to get these bad boys mounted? I'm in New England.

I owe it to you, Stocklocker that gave me great info and assured no rubbing (even though I like to hear others say it as well). Thanks again. I'm currently on the stock 2018 off road wheels... 16"

    upgrading to TRD Pro 17" 4runners with 265/70/17 KO2 C rated...

In case it is not clear, if you bought the 17" Ko2 you will need new wheels of some sort to fit those tires. They will not fit a 16" (inner diameter) rim.

Granted, it's a little embarrassing when you rub carrying 4 co-workers to lunch that aren't into modding their Sienna or thier Oldsmobile Alero. It's funny to explain why it makes the rubbing sound, they just don't understand. But if it's just me, I'm so used to it, it doesn't even surprise me anymore. And hasn't for years.

Sorry, updated my post so not sure if you saw it. I'm getting the same setup we had discussed and that you have... 17 pro wheels as well.

Call a tire shop and get some quotes for unmounting old tires from the original wheels to get to the TPMS sensors for transfer to the new wheels then mounting and balancing the new wheels. Could be $25 - 50 per corner is my guess.

13 minutes ago, you were holding off on wheels, I see you've now moved forward on the wheel purchase. Post some pics when you get the set-up on.

My 3rd gen is being built next month. I'm here because I'm going with this same wheel tire setup. Just trying to ease your mind that if it does rub, no biggie.

Did you buy 4 tires or 5, you did make plans to replace the spare? That's also a 16 inch wheel in the OEM size.

haha nope... gonna risk it. Is it that bad to temporarily run on the spare to get home safe? People do it with donuts I suppose?

Sorry, what I meant was that I bought the tires first... and will wait a little bit to fund the wheels... just for financial reasons... but still planning on the wheels. Also, I shot you a PM ;)
