My 2010 TRD Off Road with 175,000 miles still runs, shifts and drives like a new vehicle. It was garage kept for the first ten years of it's life so the paint is still good , now it sit's in the drive. I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy driving the best vehicle I've ever owned. That truck has taken me all over West Texas, down most of the dirt roads in Big Bend NP, up Elephant Mountain, up Christmas Mountain, and well into Big Bend Ranch SP. Owning that truck has made it easy to haul my kayak all over Central Texas and paddle hundreds of miles of rivers.
My Tacoma is culmanation of most every truck and off road vehicle I've ever admired. They say owning things isn't supposed to make you happy. When I look at my truck and think about all the things I've done because I own it , that makes me happy.

I can relate to this. My truck has taken me to many places I would not have been able to get to in a regular car or crossover. I've found many new hobbies (photography and astronomy, to name a few) just by being able to get out to the very remote parts of my home state. My truck has been my "trusty steed" out hunting, camping, canoeing, fishing and traveling offroad in general. I hope the next generation of Tacomas and 4Runners are up to the task and able to keep the tradition alive.

My 07 is at 222,000 as of today. It is no longer my go-to vehicle for extended trips but is driven almost daily. I reached the point several years ago where I needed a 1/2 tons capability. But rather than trade the Tacoma I kept it. For normal daily driving, or even most trips of around 100 miles one way the Tacoma still gets driven. It keeps the mileage down on the more expensive to replace big truck and gets 1-2 MPG better fuel mileage.

It's been from GA to the Rockies or the Grand Canyon and back 4 times and all over the Southeastern US. In the 15 years I've had it the only real parts failure was the alternator at 180,000 miles. Other than normal stuff like tires, brakes, etc. I've done nothing else. I have some peeling paint and a few very minor dings and dents. The drivers seat cover is starting to come apart. But it still drives like new.

Same. My truck has gotten me all over California mountains, deserts, coastlines, all while hauling the family, dog, gear, and kayaks. So many good times. It's a 2006 and I'm just cracking 147k. It was our daily family hauler for the past few years around town and did great. Now that we got the wife a new SUV the truck has seen less daily driving. I still have my old 2004 Toyota matrix around, I use it to daily drive to work right now since the gas prices are still high. But about twice a week I drive the truck, and it still our main camping vehicle. Really do love this Tacoma. Maybe someday I'll convert it to 4x4, but so far this truck has gotten me to some amazing remote areas with a lift and all terrains. I recently installed a Detroit Truetrac so I can't wait to test it out!

    Cheers!

Love the BB area. Been there many times with the first in 1977 and the most recent being this past Nov. 2021. I get there in vehicles, but hit the backroads on my dual sport. Central Texas is a hidden gem. Have clocked a lot of time and miles in both of these areas.

With all that said, I have to ask. Why is your truck (you know, what's her name) now relinquished to being parked outside? I'm sorry, but (tounge in cheek) that's like throwing a house dog outside.

Really did enjoy your post and Junior Brown! BTW-my brother-in-law opened up for him during a concert tour sometime around 2007 or so.
