    Hello there,

As you can tell, I'm a new Tacoma owner. I went with a 2017 SR AC 4x4, but I've been wanting to change those stock steel wheels so I've purchased the SCS F5 17X8.5. I wanted to know if I could fit my stock tires (245/75R16) on these rims, or if I'd have to buy a new set of tires?

    Thanks

You need new tires that fit appropriately to the size of your wheel

Why not return them and buy 16" wheels and use the tires you have for now. Later you can upgrade to a larger 16" tire.

I bought the rims 4 months ago and thought I could wait until my current tires would need replacement. The rims are in my garage just sitting there for now.... :( I did want slightly bigger rims, tho.
Any recommendation of the type of tires to buy in the future? I'm not going much offroad, and would like to keep my mileage the same as it is now (if possible) ~ 22MPG

You can achieve the same overall height and width using either a 17" or 16" rim, or at least come within a tiny fraction of an inch. Unless you modify the vehicle a 265/75/16 is the biggest tire you can use on your current 16" rims. Since you have 17" rims a 265/70/17 is virtually the same overall size and would fit without any modification. Stay with that size in a moderately aggressive tread pattern and you won't see enough difference in fuel mileage or performance to be an issue.

Which tires to buy is a different question. Budget is important to know. Do you want a very aggressive mud tire, a street tire, or an all Terrain.

Definitely a no; tires don't stretch like that. Even going from a 16" to one of the old 16.5" rims would be impossible.

Depends on how full it is.

Pepboys has a tire stretcher that might help with this, check with the local store for inventory.
