I'm in the market for Type X 16" but I'm having trouble deciding which offset to get. I have 4Runner trail teams with +15/4.5 backspace and they poke nicely however they are 7" rims. I'm thinking the countersteer X 0 offset on the 8" rim will have slightly more poke.

I'm going to run 255/85r16 STT MAXX but I would like the option of 285/75r16 in the future. Would the -10 offset version work better for control arm clearance with these larger tires? Would -10 have too much poke with 255's???

-10 offset will move the tire further away from the UCA. So yes, that offset will give you more tire to UCA clearance.

Will it be ‘too much poke?’ That’s a question of opinion. To me, it won’t be with 255s but that’s my opinion.

To run either tire on either offset you better be prepared to (if you haven’t already) cut/trim/lift/bend to make them fit in all scenarios.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I want the flexibility to be able to run 285 in the future without using spacers. Is that even possible with the 4.1 backspace/-10 offset or will it require spacers regardless?

You can run a 285/70-17 or 285/75-16 with as much as 4.75" bs. Higher than that will require spacers, most run 4.5" back spacing and clear a 285 just fine. At 4.1" bs you have plenty of room without spacers

they come with center caps. the caps on these are where any money is saved, they're very basic. i added TRD stickers to them for a little upgrade and that worked, happy now. Dustin can point you toward that sticker vendor if you're interested.

i do wish there were other cap options tho..

*NEW AS OF MAY 2014 - The 17" Konig Countersteer Type X wheels are now hub centric for 6-lug Toyotas and the lug holes are sized for 12mm Toyota studs for an even more precise fitment. These new Konig Countersteer Type X wheels now also accept the popular flat type OEM center cap from Toyota : Part # PTR18-35092.

Anyone have to install longer lugs out front? Im only getting about 6 turns before torquing as opposed to 9 in the rear. 04 first gen.

I have a base 2017 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4. Mods are as follow: FN 5 star wheels, 17x275x70 BFG's, Stage 2 Bilstein 6112 suspension kit with medium old man EMU medium leaf springs, sos concepts low profile front bumper, 9500 winch, sos concept rock sliders.

Since I live in San Diego I was able to swing by the FN warehouse and pick up a set of the Type X wheels. Super cool to meet Dustin and get to talk to him about what I was doing with the truck. He is super knowledgeable about all things Toyota. What came across the most was his passion for cars in general. Out front he had his Honda CRX, his FJ, and his Tundra. The FJ and the Tundra of course are sporting his amazing wheels so i was able to get a visual of what to expect. He talked me out of a 265x17x70 and said I should go with a 275x17x70. I took his advise and couldn't be happier and have no rubbing issues. Yesterday I did the suspension install and tire swap. I went with the Bilstein 6112/5160 suspension and Dakar leafs prings. I set the front to top most setting and put a 1/4 spacer on the left for the lean. After install I am now sitting at 40 inches all the way around. Here is the before and after. Off to Borrego for some play time this next weekend with the new setup :)

This is the closest I could find when I was looking for the same. These are six shooters though.

Thanks! That was the closest I saw as well. Not really into how the “spokes” stick out like that in these ones
