I regret not ordering a manual to be honest. I think you have a great truck spec'd out.

Also, if you want to go stepless, go stepless. I'm 6'0" and have no gripes and my fiance is even shorter and she doesn't have a problem either.

I'd avoid the steps. At 6'2" myself I find that the only thing steps do is jab you in the leg every time you get in the truck. I didn't get steps on mine and it works out perfectly.

I understand; I would definitely have a hard time with that as well. I know there are a lot of people on TW who have installed leather, myself included, so you may be able to find someone who did it right away and still has the factory cloth material in pristine condition. I forgot to mention, you would also need to purchase a couple fabric headrests though since the material is only removable on some of them. It's definitely more involved this way, and may not be worth the trouble to you, but I know you'd be able to sell your factory leather on here afterward. All-in-all, I'd stay stick with your current order.

I got the predators, I am 6'0 and I do have to be aware of them when getting in my 17 sport. My ex mentioned I needed steps for her... and the truck looks better with the steps imo

Also don't get them if you offroad. You will snap them

Keep in mind with premium tech package you get a painted rear bumper vs chrome rear on non-premium tech.

Good point...I had forgotten this, and would have been bummed had the truck come with a chrome RR bumper.

I did think, though, that the painted bumper was with the tech package not premium? So, I could still eliminate the premium and get my painted RR bumper?

I honestly don't know. I was at the dealer the other day that I bought from and they had two TRD OR manuals side by side, one red and one charcoal gray. The charcoal gray had the Tech and premium but didn't have a sunroof, the red one was about $1500 less and had a chrome bumper without Tech or premium packages on it.

Correct, the painted bumper is included with the tech package. By removing the premium package you would lose dual-zone automatic climate control, leather heated seats, auto headlights, and the sunroof.

When I was with my Ex-GF it was funny to watch her get in my truck as she was only 5'-0". She would have to grab the A Pillar Handle with 1 hand and the seat with the other.

5-8" here and I don't need steps. They would be a hindrance.

My wife is 5-1" and she doesn't need the steps either and has zero issues getting in/out.

Unless you're throwing a 3-6" lift, you don't need steps.

Love my manual trans, I'm sure you will too.

My truck came with the predator steps, and while I'm only 5'7", I never use them. I'm going to eventually sell them and get sliders. They get more in my way if anything. If you're 100% certain you can get the steps for free, then yes why not try them out. Sell them if you don't like them and buy more stuff.

Generally you NEED the steps on the 1/2 tons and up these days because they're just so damn tall. The Tacoma has a low point of entry but a lot of ground clearance. Ever notice how the seats in a Tacoma feel like you're sitting on the ground? That's why.

Yeah, you guys pretty much confirmed my feelings regarding the predator steps....so those are def not being added to my order.

I can’t exactly get them for free (though pretty darn close)....I was mostly interested in the replies if cost was out of the equation.

My last truck was a ‘15 Tundra DC TRD OR without steps...so I’m definitely not worried about the step up height. I intentionally avoided them, also. There are definitely some very purposeful looking sliders that look very well built...gotta start doing some research!

Just FYI, the painted bumper caps are: for both caps, painted and shipped from a reputable parts place online for just under $400. That’s just the first one that was recommended by an avid Taco owner. You could probably get the paint done much cheaper at a local shop. Don’t stress over those. I am going to get mine here soon since you seem to never find anyone selling theirs on here. I have a silver Taco and the chrome sucks but it is fixable thank God.

P.S. Good job on choosing the manual. You won’t regret it.

Front hellwig sway bar,All pro sway bar end links, Fox 2.5 Resi Coilovers and Shocks, Fox 2.5 Hydraulic Bumpstops, Budbuilt Traction bar, Total Chaos UCAs w/ heim joints, Icon AAL, AFE Power Intake with dynamic scoop, URD spec U, URD short shifter, Flossy weighted shift knob, michelin tires, black badges, black tailgate letters, black grill with custom Diaz Fab Devil horn yota logo, retrofit/morimoto HID conversion, red interior LED lights, Pioneer head unit, kenwood excelon door speakers, 2 10" pioneer subs,
For the cost of the TRD exhaust I would definitely buy the URD spec u and throw a couple hundred on top for the y pipe and the catback/muffler section.

As for the steps, especially since you're tall I wouldn't worry about it. I'm 5'9", and have a 2.5 inch lift and 33s and have no problem swinging one leg in and stepping up into the truck. IMO if it isn't a slider it's not really necessary for a midsize truck unless you're rocking a 6" lift and 35s!

Roof rack is up to you, I like the look but don't have one as I don't really have a use for it, my bed is usually empty.

    Well, it’s official!

Cement double cab, TRD off road, 6 sod manual, tech and premium packages, TRD exhaust, TRD skid plate.....should be pretty cool!

    Thanks for all the input!

my 2017 TRD OR Long Bed in automatic has been flawless and just crossed 15K miles. Congrats on the new rig though! Love th cement color.
