Hi everyone. I have been having this on and off again squealing coming from the engine. Up in the northeast the weather has been all over from single digits to 60 degrees. Over the past few days the squeal I had in November came back. I made 3 videos on different days and temps in the 50s/60s of the truck doing this. Wanted to get some input if it would be covered under warranty. My truck is a 18 TRD OR with 51k mi. I purchased the extendo warranty for it.

I would imagine the day I make an apt to the dealer it wont make the sound and I will show them the videos and they will say “we can replicate the sound” and send me on my way just like I would expect.

Hard to tell, but check and be sure a bearing isn’t starting to seize.

I haven’t tried it on a Taco, but if you have an infrared thermometer, you can point it around different parts to see if anything is getting hot that the belt goes around Run engine for awhile and then test with it turned off- nothing should be much hotter than 200° or so.

I saw this TSB. Try the belt, I would get the OE belt Toyota listed in the bulletin.

Sounds identical to the noise I had. Put a new belt on and it's been good.

Give the belt a light spray of water when the engine is running. The water will lubricate the belt enough to make it stop squealing if it is the belt. If not keep looking.
