18s or 20s???

18's on 35's looks good

 

I feel like 18's are pushing it as well. The biggest I would go is 17

 

These are trucks not cars. And if your lifting it.....it's pointless. (and ugly). AND from an off roading stanpoint the bigger the rim the more power you lose. (correct me if I'm wrong). But if your lowering it, by all means slap some (good looking) 22's on that bitch and roll out!

 

Can you actually "lose power" just by having a larger rim?

 

Haha. Couldn't have said it better myself. Just put 15's on some 35" mudders.

But you do lose ride quality, off road ability, and the ability to buy new tires for under $1000.

 

That's for sure. My little set up was already $1300 but that was including wheels and installation

^rollin on 13's! You have to pair those up with 6" wheel spacers.

 

These would flow well with the taco.

Ok I'm finished being a douche. seriously, I would go no bigger than 18. More than that and it looks like your compensating. The wheels should compliment the truck, not be the focal point.

The way I've always been taught, yes. You will also lose braking ability with a larger rim. It deals with rolling mass. You have to get more weight to physically turn, therefore requiring more energy to start and stop. So, yes, larger rims can reduce performance.

And of course, larger tires will cause you to lose some power.
