Just spoke to Dustin about these via email on his site. The updated version are due in late July/early August. They are now flow formed with a different center cap. I'm going to get these for my GX, just need to decide between bronze or black.

I have the Countersteer Type X on my Taco and love them, never had any problems and Dustin has always been great to deal with...granted I hadn't communicated with him in years up until this past week.

But, for those of you inquiring lately, that's the deal. He's not been on this site in forever, so tagging him here is pointless. Best to try the website or instagram (so I've been told).

Boom, so stoked! And the effort Dustin makes in perfectly packing these wheels is beyond anything I’ve ever seen in the industry. Oh, FYI daylight savings time sucks...

ps: that’s the packing material for 6 wheels

Bring this thread back to life.

Will 255/70/18 tires be too narrow for these wheels?

Looks like recommended rim width for that size is like 6.5-8.5” so you’ll be fine. Have you thought of running 275/65r18? That’s what I have on my Lexus GX on these wheels and the width is perfect.

Someone selling a cheap set of Bridgeston Dueler takeoff tires from a new Bronco, I'm trying to weight in the risk.

Right now I'm on half worn 265/65/18, doesn't rub, no trim.

Thank you for bringing the thread back to life. I need to update the original post with information about the new and improved flow formed BFDs.

However, to answer your question, 255/70R18 is a little bit narrow for the 9" wheel width. Most of the 255/70R18's that I'm aware of call for an 8.5" max rim width. You can mount 255/70R18 on a 9" width, but the tires will be a little bit stretched. I definitely would be careful not to overload the tires if you do this, and generally we'd recommend against it in order to be on the safe side.

275/65R18 is an excellent tire size, and most tires are reasonably priced in this size. I think it's often overlooked, but I really like 275/65R18 on Tacomas, 4Runners and GX460/470s. The price is pretty comparable to a 17" wheel/tire package with 275/70R17 tires, but there are more options in 275/65R18, and unlike 275/70R17 you aren't forced into a load range E tire.

I love the LT275/65R18 on the BFDs. Ran the Duratracs in Load E for 90k plus miles zero issues other than fuel economy. Dropped to 265/65s in standard load and fuel economy has jumped up and better daily driving
