Yeah, but I see from the Marines logo on your avatar that you were getting REAL training from people who KNEW what they were doing. That kid probably got his 'training' from youtube, didn't RTFM, and went out shooting. He claimed to 'know how to handle a 1911' in the same thread that he admitted to deactivating the safeties so that he could lower the hammer on a live round der and claimed that the subsequent discharge upon holstering was somehow the manufacturer's fault.

Brought Mary Jane to the house tonight, and a gun cabinet which so far is empty except for her. Will bring the others later, but ready for home duty.

 

If anybody is curious, I have an OWB Kydex holster molded for the TLE RL II and SureFire X200 produced by Side Armor. At the time, they were the only holster maker offering an integrated WML mold for this 1911. I really love it. Has an attachment also to be mounted to a hard surface. I think the cant is adjustable as well but I haven't used the holster in a few years.

 

It is coming back now. Clearly the manufacturer should of not been making weapons that discharge when the hammer falls .

This particular holster is molded specifically for the RL and X200. They offered other moldings, if they're still around you can take a look and see. I love the holster, personally.

She's fine as long as it's locked up. She has shot guns and comes from a redneck hippy family of Swiss and Italians. She was uncomfortable just having it out and wiping off excess oil from Kimber's shipping bag. No magazine in it and it had the plastic chamber clear indicator still attached. I think it's been awhile since she's been around a gun, and with the baby she's probably a little more sensitive than she would normally be.

She has seen me go from sound asleep next to her, and having the home alarm start blasting and by the time she even wakes up I'm already through the bedroom door with pistol in hand and totally alert. So it isn't her first rodeo in the least. She thought it was hot, actually.

I miss my Pro Carry HD. Hopefully one day I can afford another.

 

Although their work is very nice, the clip models are worthless imo. But, I do not like clips so, maybe it is me.
I am a fanboy of Mitch Rosen. It would be hard for me to move from his work.

I was invited to a Police range to shoot with some cadets who were getting caught up due to an auto accident...anyway, we were doing a few drills competing for time, Police all using Glock 22C's and myself with a loose as fuck Colt series 80. I was trying out a kydex mag holder for the first time, go to reload, kydex comes off the belt with the mag....had to holster the gun, separate mag, draw, reload, shoot.

Kydex went straight in the garbage, spare mags just tucked in my belt for the rest of the day.

I stick to leather with belt loops now.

 

Belt clip holsters. And...

 

Confused on the belt clips. My holster has none.

 

I get this. Mine do not anymore. Belt clips blow midget balls.

 

I wouldn't trust one for shit. No clip has enough retention IMO. I liked the belt snaps on the VM2. This Side Armor holster has notches cut for your belt to be laced through, it locks in. Tension adjustment on the holster as well.

 

1911's are the best. I have three kimbers that I love.

 

M1911s are my go to choice every time. My 1944 M1911A1 Remington Rand and my Kimber.
