1911 BS thread

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I bought it. I also got a slamming deal on it at Academy.

 

I still want to get some fancier grips for my Colt, just haven't done so yet.

EGW fire control trigger, hammer & sear
Smith Alexander grip safety and main spring/extended magwell
Hand checked 25 lines/in
VZ grips
Wilson did the Armor Tuff refinish
Holster is a Milt Sparks

Also glad to hear all the good words about the Ruger SR1911. I bought one, but it wouldn't load and had to go back. Can't wait to get it back and go shooting!

Hey I have one of those too.....I did change out all the controls to stainless just to dress it up a little..

 

Never shot a 1911, are the S&W 1911's good to go?
I really like the finish and the grips on them.

 

Nice, mine just has had some polishing of the internals.

 

Nothing wrong with the S&W 1911's I have shot a few and they seem tight and good shooters....

 

Yeah, I did the same with the trigger sent it off to a local gunsmith here in Va @ Sams custom gunworks top notch work that rivals Ed brown/Wilson combat/Nighthawk.....

 

Good to know, thinking about getting a S&W when I get a 1911.

 

Not sure what your budget is but they could be some better options out there......

 

Not looking right now (Well, not seriously looking, I always am looking at guns) but budget will likely be $650-700, local place has the S&W's for $650

 

You are in the ballpark look at a Springfeild MC operator you can find the used and in good shape for $800 keep an eye on gunbroker....

 

Springfield is hard to beat under $1500 IMO.

 

Even the GI base model is a good gun.

 

I love my Springers.

 

Dad just picked up a lightweight champion operator, I love that thing. Cheaper than my Kimber too
