For sure. I love shooting them. But currently I keep a rotating stockpile of 380, 9mm, 45ACP, 38/357, 35 Rem, 32 Spl, 22 (and 22 subsonic), 30-30, 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, 223/5.56, 308, & 7.62X54, plus 12ga, 16ga, & 20ga in various loads of bird, buck, slugs, and skeet. Adding another caliber really isn't on my to-do list right now, haha!

I roll my own, so it's just a matter of having the components.
I enjoy shooting the 10 as well.

Definitely on my to-do list, Not least because of the list mentioned above.

I've got multiples in most of those calibers and gauges, too. Passive collecting from when I've had spare $$ spread out over almost 20 years has really added up, but now I've got the burden of feeding it, lol.

Hello TW Family. I just found this thread. I am a big fan of the 1911 platform. With that being said, I was looking for some assistance here.

While I am not going to declare ownership of this, I was hoping to get some help. This was inherited back in 1993. It was completely torn down and restored by a smith. A lot of research was done on the finish as to what would be appropriate for it the way it came from Colt. The serial number tracks back to a manufacture date of 1913.

Some people have said that the restoration has diminished the value of this piece. The smith said everything matches up to this, so I was (I mean my friend) hoping that someone here could attach a value to this thing.

Yes, I blotched out the number on the side....there is not white box on the side of it.

I took the liberty of pointing out, in yellow, some words on the side of it. Any input we can get on this thing would be great. For now, it just sits next to a 1918 P08.

Awesome. I did not realize that about the grips. In the time that I have known this, there has never been a round sent down the barrel. It is a stunning piece of history, in my opinion anyway.

It was very pitted and rusty prior to the work being done to it. I know people like the aged authenticity of things, but the restoration was a tough call.

I have sent a round or two through the 08, and now know why wars were lost. Teo rounds, jam. Clear jam. Teo rounds, jam. The tragic part is since there is not a "slide", it is a pain to clear a jam.

Restoration definitely hurt the value, but it lives a better life now it sounds like.

Keep her happy and her barrel warm.

Guess she will have to last for another 103 years to be worth something again.

That being said, I think she is gorgeous and do not really regret the restoration.

    Thanksfor the input everyone.
