I paid around $350 for my first 1911 some 20+ years ago. A second hand Israeli made BUL.

Look at a Springfield mil spec, loaded, or range officer all very good starting platforms and in varying degrees of price range. Also all three are very good starting platforms to build on down the road to make a custom gun.

If you go used look for again Springfield or colt, Kimber is are not worth the amount of money that they are asking in my opinion but they are good guns.

Rock island are usually decent guns but they are not something you want to spend the money on to build up later.

I just posted a REALLY nice Galco OWB holster for the 1911 4" guns in the "for sale - other" thread if anyone needs one. I sold my Guardian so I have no use for the holster. Just a heads up for the 1911 crowd - hope that's OK.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for a used Springfield. Ive seen then on gunbroker for $500 but I could get a new milspec on gallery of guns for $600 so I might just spend the extra money on one. Do you have a website of the work you do?

Still to pricey for a gun I don't know too much about. Especially, when I am going to make stupid mistakes when I first get it. Maybe later down the road as a really nice carry gun.

I own two springfields and am very happy with them. One is stainless steel champion model in 45acp . Has 4" barrel.

The other is stainless steel loaded model full size in 9mm. A sweetheart to shoot

First step to the deluxe magwell blend. Ensure the magwell fits the frame without any gap and a tight fit so the magwell doesn’t wiggle or rattle. EA76AAE8-7A99-41C0-A164-F16A4A754AD6.jpg
