This is the exact reason I own 10 1911's/2011s.......

From a SA Milspec to STI

And not so surprising to me , I shoot them better than any non 1911/2011 I own.

I spend a ton 9f time working on my Glock 19....still shoot the Kimber Pro Carry II better.

Maybe because I learned to shoot a semiautomatic on a USMC 1911........

I can relate(sorta) I looked at Kimber, Sig Sauer, Springfield, and then someone put a Dan Wesson in my hands. I had to re-evaluate everything else.
I ended up with a Springfield TRP operator and am very happy. But if I could have spent a little more I would have gone for the DW specialist black.

I was really close to getting a Kimber Pro carry. Really close.

Gotta use what works. I personally like the triggers on 1911's myself and you get carry a longer 1911 because they are so thin than a little sub compact poly frames pistol.

I like the Springfield a lot too. Think it was an EMP. That was the first 1911 I felt that made me want one. Glad I never put my hands on a Wilson haha!

    My TRP OPERATOR story...

I go shooting with SIL, who calls the night before and says, Hey Pops, yeah he calls me Pops, can I invite a buddy or two? Sure, I say, I arrived at the off ramp to find 8 trucks with 2 to 3 guys each. He calls as I pull past to guide the way , sorry but I told two guys, who told two guys....

We set up pop ups, tables and chairs, define the firing line etc. Soon here is buddy of his buddy who introduced himself and starts to ramble on about how he was going to join the Corps but..........
I didn't hear another word of that story.......

Later my SIL wants me to shoot his 45, aRIA 1911 and he is going to shoot my XD 45 5 inch. The gonna join but guy says, if you are gonna shoot his 45, ya gotta shoot mine.
He turns with this oversized gun case, flips it open, the clouds parted, Angels sang as the Coyotes howled.

I shoot the RIA 1911, was fun, nice for an inexpensive pistol. Then I take the TRP OPERATOR out and operated the slide. Felt the take up, the break and rest.

I just lo ok led at him and said.......Jackass! You're like a drug dealer, first magazine is free.
Felt perfect in.my hand then I loaded it, and dropped 3 three rounds from 15 yds. The group was tight, I had to look twice. SIL says, run it Pops, so I dumped the next 5 rounds, could not believe how good it felt and how tight the group was. This pistol made me look like John Wick.........

Took 3 months to find one.
When I finally found it, I simply sent a pic of it to my SIL, asking him to forward the picture and I hate you to his buddy.

And that was the beginning of my 1911/2011 addiction, but remember, I can quit anytime I want.

That is an awesome story. I had only shot one 1911 prior to purchasing my TRP. It was another Springfield. I couldn’t believe how much tighter the groups where than my other handguns. I still only have one 1911 but honestly the need for another was fairly well satisfied with the TRP. I don’t think I’ve regretted that purchase at all.

That’s awesome. Had a reverse of this, my brother was going to college in England and a friend over there and came out to az to see sedona. While out here I took him to a few local spots and we hit sgc for some full auto fun (m16/g36/fs2000) and next morning we were going out to shoot the collection I had but called a friend and same scenario we had 5 guys bring their collection out so he got to shoot quite a bit. He had some experience as he was Swiss and was a medic for him term. Can’t for the life of me remember the rifle he had but I believe he used a p210 for side arms practice although he was not equipped with one from what I remember

I remember the first time I shot a 1911. The target was at 30 ft and the first round nicked the bullseye. I’m an average shooter so I figured it was just luck until I made the best grouping of my life. I of course now own a 1911 and it’s by far my favorite firearm.

It always confuses me when someone says "I own a 1911"...

How in the world can you own "a" 1911? They are like potato chips. Can't have just one!

I just got one and I'm already thinking about getting another one. Plus I'm building another AR and looking for a 22lr bolt gun.

    We all need help!

I have several. My first was an original Kimber Stainless Classic before they moved production to NY. Looks and shoots beautiful! Then when Ruger started making the SR1911 I was looking at one at SHOT and couldn't believe the quality, especially at that price point. Mentioned it to Mrs Gunns and she got me one for my birthday that year. We were shooting one day and I told her she needed to shoot my Kimber just to see how nice it shot. She didn't really want to at first but once she shot it her eyes went big and she got a huge grin on her face. Next thing I knew we were buying her a Kimber Pro Carry. When Ruger came out with the Talon editions I had to have one. Put an Ed Brown threaded barrel in for running suppressed and have been loving it as well. Already have my next 1911 picket out. Gonna be a Les Baer S.R.P. Just gotta save up my allowance...

Got to meet Les at SHOT a few years back. He is a real, down to earth, gun guy's gun guy. Real pleasure to talk to him.
