Ammo's funny. Last week I bought four boxes for 22.99 and they were aluminum cases. This week for the same price I got brass casings.

Could save four bucks a box by buying by the case, but I don't usually shoot that much.

I'm out of the Kimber loop, but if you're stuck in the used market make sure your slide has an internal extractor. Kimber didn't officially recall the external extractors they designed, but they are replacing these weapons (all full size external extractor models) and fitting new slides with internals.

I have one, have a shit ton of rounds through it. Developed issues a few years ago with extraction and erratic ejection and so it sat, finally got around to sending it to Kimber and now it's been sitting in the shipping box, fixed, since July 2014. :anonymous:

That aside, I find it to be a great gun. Just as accurate as my Les Baer TRS, a few Springfield FBI Professionals (3) and Ed Brown, which is a pretty good pedigree. I'm not a huge fan of Kimber for the value of them, but I'm very happy with my TLE RL II.

The Professionals and Brown aren't mine, but FWIW, the Professional with 30 LPI checkering is my dream gun. It's like shooting a pillow, except that hungry checkering. Softest shooting .45 I've ever fired. Waiting for my buddy to make me an offer I can't refuse on one of his.

That raises another good point. Trigger length. I think a lot of people may not be aware of proper trigger size, finger/grip, so here's some pics from a gunsmith friend that may help out.

The same shit everyone else has.
After this, I broke mine down to check everything out. I havent shot it since December and it still clean as a whistle inside. But I did notice this -

    BC8790D9-6823-4995-96C4-9A46A17E24CB_zps_13fff26c267ffa1e86de36d0c278d82d1048cad5.jpg

Toothbrush and Rem oil took it right off though.

As for the sight issue, the kid at the gun store told me about that. Apparently its only the earlier ones that had that problem.

Neat! I have the same problem. I have stubby little thumbs which makes it hard to drop the slide. I really didnt want to modify my gun at all, but I think I will do this.

Heard there are or were issues with kimber ultra carry 2 mainly on feed. I haven't experienced any issues yet. Am I fortunate or on borrowed time?

    Beautiful!

A friend of mine had the issue, sent it to kimber and they polished the feed ramp and that was it

Most (not all) feed issues are magazine related.

Short barreled 1911 are notorious for having feed issues. Many times it's not just the ramp but the gap between the barrel and ramp. I was instructed on a 5" gun to have, iirc, a .030" gap.

We can't have one of these without something from the late, great, Armand Swenson. A Gold Cup from 1968:

That's more of a gunsmith fitting area, but just to keep in mind.

As others said, try magazines first.
