    Amazing.
If the paintwork is your fathers version of "pretty good" and a hobby we have to wonder what he does when he really applies himself -- cuts million dollar diamonds perhaps?

I have really been enjoying this build, what you have shown us looks like it came out of a high end pro shop. :101010::101010:

Thanks^ ... trucks turning out pretty nicely but to me it's far from perfect. Which is probably for the best, since when it's done I plan on driving this thing all over place.

On a different note...trans cooler is installed and connected. Had the spare rims and tires mounted but I'm not sure if I like the look of them when I laid them against the truck... will see once I put them on, for now the steelies are my first choice.

    Steelies are always the answer!

I love the Torq Thrust style, but I really dig oversized or slightly oversized steelies.

one door is color sanded and polished... turned out pretty shiny. Calling it good enough for a farm truck :)

big moment... got a door hung and didn't damage anything. Truck's one step closer to looking less like a parts car

Put in the column and steering wheel… also added the passenger side door handle… little by little it’s getting done

3 random holes in the dash got missed when the dash was painted… given the choice of filling holes and repainting vs improvisation… well laziness is the mother of all invention.

Turned the 3 holes into a tach mount

I’ve always preferred a smooth front fender without anything mounted on them. Since my trucks a 40 and I’m attempting to keep a stick outward appearance I’m running the original parking lights…

Color sanded enough of the fender to mount the parking lights… I’m not overly thrilled, here’s to hoping the look grows on me.

I probably would have fabricated a bracket and mounted some smaller running lights near the grille or slightly below the grille on each side or next to the inside of the headlights, but I think how you did it looks fine. It's a really cool truck.

More like how Chevy did it… original lights and location. 40 was the only year truck that had this arrangement. Which is why they’re sitting out in no man’s land.

I’ve got slightly odd vision going on in my mind with regards to aesthetics…mostly stock but with a mid 60’s performance vibe…

sticking with the parking lights is the second time I’ve questioned what I’m doing.

Super hot days... so getting the material stretched for the seats. The skins came from the filling station...One piece down, one to go

When I got the truck it had the standard column mounted and hose clamped turning indicator box. I've made an attempt to keep the steering column "clean" and didn't want to hang that box back off the column.

Looking online I found a kit from Speedway motors that was a self canceling system utilizing two button switches.

Figured I'd give it a try, made a mount for the switches, threw some black paint on it and hung the bracket with a magnet. It will suck up a little tighter to the dash once it's final mounted without the magnet. Happy with the way it sort of blends in, now I just need to finish the bracket, give it some better paint and fully mount it.

Bench seat is finished, which means the trucks interior is now 95% finished. I love the she simplicity of these interiors.

Glad I didn’t end up paying someone else to do it either… way cheaper and it turned out pretty well. Will probably need to pull the lower front in a bit but it’s not terrible.

Been working on paint stripping and mocking up the box. Have to relocate/adjust the tailgate as the mounting tabs don’t line up with the bedside.

Got the bumper brackets painted and test fit the front bumper.

    Progress of sorts

Bunch of little things attempted, some even accomplished, others not so much. Bed fill panels are in, bed wood is getting stained in ebony and looks nothing like what the camera's picking up. Metal vacuum line to the transmission is shaped/routed and the radiator mounts are started. Had to make a small bracket to offset the moroso trans dipstick mount as the filler cap was hitting the firewall...

My big fail this weekend was putting brake fluid into the truck, turns out the proportioning valve included with my brake assembly is deep set and my fittings aren't tall enough to set the flare. On the upside all the other flares and fittings are actually functioning.

Started cutting and routing my plug wires.... happy with how the passenger side turned out but the drivers side header posses some issues and is a little messy. First coat of sealant went on the wood and it's not turning out as black as I thought it might. It's a very dark brown in most light but it sort of has an ebony look in certain light.

Some random and unrelated updates… tailgate is just about ready for paint, first 2 rad mounts are done and the battery tray is sort of mounted. Ran into an issue with one nut not clearing the backside of the crossmember. So a typical day trying to put things where they don’t belong.

Turns out it only took some minor head scratching . I drilled a hole to clear the rivet on the cross member and it wasn’t large enough to let the angle iron sit flush. 2 drill bit sizes up and my problem is resolved. Once I decided where the battery was going I relocated the solenoid to the rear. One quick and dirty bracket with a splash of paint gets it done.
