My friend recently got a hold of a 1968 Baracuda fastback with a slant 6.

Looking for a classic car restoration to do the body work. Recently purchased a 350 crate engine to drop in (no tranny yet). Figured I’d start a tread on it and get some input on it.

Tips, info, experience is all welcomed.

We gutted the interior and pretty much everything else, driveshaft, carpets, trunk, front bumper and lights. Prepping it for sanding and body work.

I wanted the 383. But the amount of work involved getting that in and set up would drive me insane.

Believe me, this 350 won’t be stock. It’s not gonna be a track car, but it definitely won’t be a princess pony either :stirthepot:

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
This is going to be epic! Reminds me of a yellow 70 Cuda called “Rat Cuda” growing up. Who in southern Ontario Canada remembers Rat Cuda?

Oh I forgot to mention... it’s an Auto :anonymous::bananadead::crapstorm:

I know I know! I’m still on the fence for a manual conversion. It all depends on the cost and work involved.

It's going to be a lot of work regardless cause you need to upgrade the smaller rear end to handle the V8. That 7-1/4 rear won't last long behind a beefed up 350. Going to want an 8-1/4 or 8-3/4.

Yeah pretty much everything is getting replaced. Brake system, steering, tranny, engine, driveshaft, wheels, but also while keeping it as original as possible. Luckily the interior was damn near perfect. No rips or tears.

I get where you're coming from. Mopar is one if the crazy expensive brands.
Have you looked at the LS crate engines? Lots of potential power for less $$$$$.

I’ve considered LS, but there’s something about old school Carb that just feels so good.

I'm sure there's a way to hop up the \6. I have a 63 Falcon convertible that I built. Offy intake triple carb, milled block, cam, etc... Pushes it just fine. Engine is mated to a T5 5spd. If you want gobs of go, turbo the 6 and it'll scream. I know of a Falcon with a turbo'd 250 six that runs 10s.
