Hope so too, season is coming to a end and I would love to get it out more as the water cools down and the fish start going crazy for food before winter.

I thought you put in a new fuel tank?

Pretty much the whole fuel system is new, but I fear that grit and sand is falling off the filler nozzles and my oil cup when I mix. This is then getting sucked up the hose and into the carbs.

There should be a filter screen inside the fuel pump, but Im thinking that its either missing or has big holes in it. So putting a finer filter on before the pump should help fix that.

Just pulled the fuel pump apart, screen is intact, there were a couple larger chunks of stuff in the screen, but I think things are just getting past it.

ok, so I think I have it figured out. When the last owner rebuilt the fuel pump, they forgot a single O-ring on the fuel pump screen, this is allowing chunks to go around the screen. So im going to install the fuel filter like I planned, but I will rebuild the pump this fall when I do the water pump and lower unit oil.

I want to do some ignition timing today too, I want to make sure its right, but having the fuel system empty and disconnected is the perfect time to set timing as I dont want the motor to be able to start.
But I need to pick up a dial indicator and timing light to get it right. The procedure is funny, you need to find TDC with the dial indicator, zero it out, then turn the flywheel until its .467 inches below TDC (TDC is a very large range on these motors, but .467 is only 1 spot) Then from there I can adjust the timing indicator. After the indicator is zeroed, I can put the timing light on it and adjust idle timing, and then WOT timing screws.

Got the motor all timed, and fixed up. Have to wait on the fuel filter though, the only ones I could find local were paper element ones, and those dont like 2 stroke oil. So I will have to order one.

But, after getting it all back together, I spent some time with my old BMW. Its been sitting since 2017 and I would love to take it out this fall. Checked the fluids, cranked it up but no fire. It starts on spray, but the not on its own. So I hooked some leads up to the fuel pump and found its seized due to the old gas evaporating and varnishing over the pump. New pumps on the way so I should hopefully have that car running next week. I might go see if I can get my challenger running this week too, it last ran 2 years ago.

This picture is from 2017 when I cleaned the convertible and put it in the garage where it has not moved since.
