So I picked up a crusty 1981 Toyota pickup for $200 a month or so ago.

The floor boards have some rust and the paint isn't perfect but overall it's a pretty straight truck for being 30+ years old.

Literally everything is getting yanked out.

In place of the 22R will be a 2jz-ge. The non turbo model. Buttttt it's going to get turbo swapped so it'll be a 2jz NA-T basically along with the stock 5 spd.

The drivetrain is coming from a 56,000 mile mk4 Supra.

    Build plans would be:

    1. Drop in stock 2jz-ge and use a painless wiring harness to convert the stock harness to a simple 3-4 wire game to make it run in the truck using a stock ECU.

    2. Swap out stock rear end for a Ford 8.8 with 3.73s and get custom driveshaft Made.

    3. Fat slicks in the rear and skinnies in the front

    4. New/ Fine tune the suspension to make the truck hook good and go straight consistently.

    5. Once truck is running solid and feels good all motor, order the turbo kit, headgasket, headstuds, injectors and ECU masters standalone ECU

    6. 400hp goal at this point and should be happy with a fun drag truck that can be daily driven

    7. More boost, breaking parts, downhill "I hate this piece of shit" slope begins.

I was going to use a fuel cell in the bed to replace the stock tank and lines but I need to check it to see what condition it's all in. There's a lot of roadblocks I'm going to run into along this build and it's not gonna be as easy as it seems when you type out the plan. But overall it's a simple and straightforward goal and gameplan.

I would like to have a running 400-500hp supratruck for $8,000 or less. May go over budget, may go under. But that's basically the summary of everything.

Engine is officially in and truck is a roller again.

I need to know, where's the mkIV going after you pull the 2jz... mkIV's ain't cheap so something must have been up with it for you to stay in this imaginary "8,000 or less" range :D

The mk4 is getting a fully built turbo motor. Used to be a show car (legit even had a intercooler that wasn't hooked up) so the car has been babied and maintained most of its life. Today I went and test drove the Supra to make sure it's all healthy and running right. Was not disappointed.

Both. I'm buying it from the guy but the shop is pulling the swap for him and doing all the work.

The guy has plenty of mk3s and mk4s for sale tho if you're interested.

The shop that is doing all the work on the Supra and will be assisting me when needed with my swap is the shop that built this Supra that is VERY well known on Houston streets

So the Supra's yours too! Damn you... PM me the shop name, I'm looking around currently, more interested in a roller than anything else.

I'm just guessing but this shop was in a higher place and not currently underwater or slowly draining lol

In to see you work on this a little bit and then sell it to someone only to wish you still had it a few months later.

Engine will be ready to come home on Sunday. So goal for this week is to get as much of the stock shit out and on the scrap pile as possible.

Oh and fun fact, my dads shop burned down will all my tools in it recently so I'm going to have to restock my tools as the build goes along which is gonna be fun lol.
