Love my Toyota carb. 220k original miles and I've been at all crazy angles wheeling it. I just make sure to keep up with O&M.

    O&M?

And I wanna start working on it but it's too windy and cold here in Nj. Gotta create a new frame rail for the passenger side first. That's number 1 priority. Will be posting pics. Then will rip out vinyl flooring and seats and monstaline the floor.

But yea first things first, frame

    Operation and maintenance. O&M.

dial it in and keep up with maintenance and it'll keep going!

I have a 22re that I bought to swap in my truck but I keep putting it off because I haven't been in a situation where my carb couldn't handle it. Also I figure it would be an easier trail fix if it ever broke down.

Mines a 22r not 22re. But still, reliable engine. It's got some oil leaking from the gaskets. I can't tell which gasket but I'll be sure to take pics once I clean it up and degrease to find out where it's leaking.

Also I won't be wheeling it. It's gonna be my beater work truck for construction, and my Tacoma will be my mud warrior :D

This is going to be a great project/build thread. The engine itself is probably worth way more than you paid.

Even if you don't know anything about cars it would be a fun project to do. Just learn as you go.

I don't know much about mechanical work but this would be a fun project to do.

Well, I started working on the truck. First things first the frame. I paid a welder on Craigslist to basically create a new passenger side frame rail for me. It doesn't look pretty at all BUT, it is extremely strong. I'll try to upload a better picture when I can.

Still needs a body mount. The old one is non-existent. Also, I need to cut the plates he welded on flush with the frame. It sticks out too far and is quite ugly. IMG_5459.jpg

Then, took out the seats, ripped up all the old, smelly flooring. Beat the shit out of the floor boards with a hammer to expose any rot, and there was a few holes in the drivers side.

So I cleaned up the best I could, cut the rust out, and cut out aluminum sheets I had laying around to the size of the floor boards. Again...not pretty, but it's probably going to end up being a work beater truckIMG_5432.jpg

I swear it looks better in person lol..

Next I'm going to silicone any gaps in the floors, prime all the floor with rust stopping primer, bedline the existing floor, then use self tapping screws to screw down the new floor boards, silicone that, prime that and bed line that.

By the pedals and where my feet will rest I'll put skateboard grip tape over the bedliner

I'll use the cheap harbor freight bedliner

Well the big sheet of aluminum didn't work out. Probably could of worked with patients but I don't have it.

So I cut out little patches, beat them to shape, siliconed and used self-tapping screws to screw them down. Gonna prime everything again and tomorrow paint with bedliner IMG_5464.jpgIMG_5466.jpgIMG_5469.jpg

looking good. Going to be a decent little truck when through. If you have to change carbs (and they have an adapter, I really don't know) I have a couple of Holley 350cfm 2 bbls I'd sell cheap enough.

I know the factory ones don't have much adjustment and carbs DO wear out.

I have absolutely no experience with carburetors lol. Gonna be fun tinkering with it. I'll keep you in mind if I need to change it

Btw I registered and insured it today. First order of business tomorrow is finishing floor pan work, and getting rid of all the metal scrap I have in the bed that has been piling up

Nice I've seen those flat bed pick up loaded up heavy and can't believe how abuse these things can get.

Here it is after unloading the scrap metal. Believe it or not, the bed actually held almost 1200 pounds of scrap metal

Which means the frame job came out strong. The steering wheel is seriously out of alignment though which is to be expected since the frame isn't perfect

Also, no passenger side Body mount means the body's been clunking on the frame every time I hit potholes

I was going to bedline the floor, but after reading the cautions on the gallon, I realized it wouldn't be safe.

The floor gets pretty hot now because of the lack of insulation and heating the bedliner releases nasty fumes that causes nasty side effects

Will have to explore another option. Ideas?

Just a few new pictures, was helping a lady move some of her old furniture. Since I got it, this little truck has never ceased to amaze me, of how much stuff I can carry in it.

Doesn't look like much but there is a dining room table, 12 chairs, a mattress, a boxspring, 2 dressers, loose cabinets and a whole bunch of other bags, furniture and misc stuff in there
