87 reg cab manual with 136,000. White with no rust. Has carburetor 4cy and wants 4,000.00. This seem like a fair deal. Interior is ok

I thought I had taken Tacoma out before I posted. I’m guessing they came out with Tacoma in 95?

    Yup!

Technically mid-1995, because the original pickup was also sold in America during the first half of 1995...

Look for an early 85 with factory solid axle and 22re. Now that's a deal

if you could find one with low miles on that 22re motor, their bomb proof. Don't have much horsepower, but they will run forever.

I thought they all were fuel injected by 87.

3FB6F510-1C04-4921-A971-C21ED7A54D3C.jpg the mileage is 198,000 don’t know why I thought it was 136,000.

It may be a 86 but I’m thinking it’s a 87. It has a parts truck that comes with that has the 22re motor and 5 speed transmission original to parts truck.

Probably get quite a few years good service out of it, tough little trucks! So $4000 isn't bad but i'd offer less.

They are good little trucks if there is no rust and you are handy. I think the fuel injected versions would be an improvement, but it's not a show stopper.
I would Expect to do timing chain and other essential maintenance. Brake calipers freeze, the ebrakes stop working, pitman arms are failure prone but otherwise they are solid.

Not sure if he's still a thing but there was a guy that went by "enginebuilder" that had upgraded heads and such to squeeze a little more power out of them for modest money.

I ran an early 90's one for many years and loved it, but mine was rusting and the cab is super small. Wife eventiually insisted we have a truck with airbags or I'd have kept it longer.

$4000 feels like a lot of money for such an old one, but it really depends on condition. No rust is not a thing where I live.:annoyed:

I would just drive it. Put tires and a winch on it. Just trying to decide on getting it or not.

If you’re just gonna drive it I’d look for something a bit more comfortable, but that’s me.
