I have a 91 toyota 4x4 156k with a 3.0 that has been run hot way to many times by the previous owner and finally locked up. I'm located in south ms and needing some help with what route to take to get the truck back up and running. Would it be cheaper to buy and rebuilt motor or have mine rebuilt ?? Any suggestion on a good mechanic, engine builder etc. Would also be appreciated. Really don't want to sell the truck but have no experience in these motors... thanks , happy new years

Just drop a new motor in there; Get a 3.0L from Jasper or something... :)

    Welcome to the Forum!!!

A 30 year old Truck What condition is the rest of the truck?

Is it cost effective to put the labor cost and engine expense in to the truck .

You have no idea the shape of the engine to it is pulled apart and inspected . I guess 2 complete heads Lower end damage ?? The engine internals might need replaced

How do you use the Truck ??

Daily Driver OFF Road Toy a Bit of both??

I tossed a good running 3.0 in the scrap because I could not give it away !! The 92 4Runner my 3.4 went in.

You might also want to check out Yota Tech much more into that age trucks and that engine.

You might be able to find a running engine cheap from someone doing a 3.4 swap.

Also Check your regional Forum for more information about local resources !

    Best of Luck!!

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
The 3.0 is a waste of time to rebuild. It’s cheaper in the long run to do a 3.4l swap.
