Beat me to it! I was thinking along the lines of “One drive through New Hampshire is all it takes.”

It is a waste as either the new owner is going to garage it forever, or what? Drive an over 20 year old truck that cost the same as the current model year?

I'd might give ten grand for it, and I wouldn't run around bragging about it..
This isn't a time capsule, it's a 30 year old NE truck that's showing it's age and stage.

My 2002 was like that as well, except I had to replace the driver’s side door handle when it snapped off one day in my hand.

I know they are well made but things get worn down over time no matter what kind of vehicle it is. I have a 95 Corolla that I absolutely love. It’s super reliable but even with 175k things need maintenance. I’ve done the clutch, timing belt, brakes of course, axles and the regular stuff that everything needs like. Had a couple little int. things and a couple small electrical repairs. I’m definitely not saying it’s not possible or anything just that over 250k with nothing but a battery and a thermostat to me seems unlikely.

According to the seller a stripper truck is "rare" ? ? ?

Other than four wheel drive the truck is bare bones. Bench cloth seat, steel wheels, 4 cylinder, manual transmission, NO PW PL AC EXT CAB RADIO UPGRADE and on and on.

So the only thing this stripper DLX has going for it is extremely low miles, while thats nice it doesn't overcome a bare bones truck with damage & rust/corrosion.

Interesting the seller doesn't show you any photos of the engine compartment, lets hope that is just an oversight and is not covering up rats eating the wiring harness or a compartment full of corrosion.

Well we’re not including air filters, brake pads and oil changes, as for that Tacoma the door handle was it. My ‘95 4Runner had over 250k miles on it and I had to replace the MAF sensor because of the _hitty K&N filter oil killing it, front wheel bearings once, and the clutch pedal mount plate broke and had to be welded because I pushed it so much. Never replaced the clutch on that one. Both trucks were still running strong when sold.

I lived in NoVa for 10 years. Humidity on its own won’t cause all that rust. Either way it’s too shady for my money.

My buddy bought a pretty nice ‘87 for $20K, it had low miles and was in really good shape. I told him it was way too much but he really wanted it. Then stupid me, I started looking at prices and actually he got a good deal. Should never have sold that ‘85

Yeah, I dunno. Speculating on old trucks to gain value is a crap shoot, especially if buying at inflated prices for a plain jane stripper not in perfect condition. I mean it's not an air cooled 911.

The previous 100 years of car culture are not a valid template for the next 20.

Only one question needs to be asked:
What’s the biggest tire you can fit without rubbing?

Oh man, you’re so right. Can’t Go out buy a car now and expect in 20 years it to be a collector. But if you bought something in the seventies and stuck it in your garage it would been worth a ton in the nineties. I bet a 90s geo metro with 84 miles on it would be worth more than that taco.

$30K for a low mileage truck that's dented and rusty? That seems crazy. It might only have 84 miles but it looks like it has $80K miles on it. Do the low miles even matter when its that beat up? Maybe if it was still in showroom condition it would be worth the money.

Agree completely and I am calling BS. I have lots of questions: That is a fair amount of rust for never moving in 28 years. If it truly has only 84 miles how are there 3 dents in the body rail that are that significant? If there were said dents and you wanted to get premium price, would you not fix it? How hard would it be to find a Chinese made replica speedo and swap it? How many other things need to be fixed because seals have dried out and now leak? This is not a limited edition muscle car. I don't get it. What would be the attraction?

I'm not seeing a good condition used 1779 to 1994 Toyota Truck sell for any less that $10K to 15K these days.

even Dead ones sell for $6K

The sky is the roof on the nice restored one.
