I’m looking at the pictures on my phone, but I’ve looked at them 3 times and have yet to spot any rust. We must have a natural visual filter for rust in my area.

This might have already been said… my 2 thoughts are this.

1- It’s currently at $34,100 and the reserve still isn’t met. I don’t care who you are, that’s just retarded in my opinion.

2- Those dings and dents in the bed aren’t terrible, but how the hell can you manage that much damage in only 84 miles?

its not going to be much more interesting than that. Maybe grandpa brought it home to the barn and liked it too much and decided not to drive it and instead sat on a lawn chair in the barn, drank Budweiser and stared at it for nearly 30 years. He quickly grew fond of the little truck and made sure nobody touched it. He spent his evenings cleaning the dust off of it with a diaper. Then died recently.

That's an old EBay trick to use another account and underbid the reserve. That might make someone interested think they better grab it up.

Probably. My father in law fancies himself a "car guy" even though he probably couldn't ever even change his own oil - he just likes to have a nice car. Was always frugal about everything except cars - owned a '64 vette, Several BMWs, a Caymen, 911, etc over the years. A few years back (in his late 70's) he bought a brand new 650i convertible with the M package at a time when his own mobility was pretty much shot and drove it a couple thousand miles over the course of a year and a half.

Then my M.I.L. passed away and we convinced him to move close to us. Since he can't get in or out of the car without help, and has a hard time just finding his way to the kitchen, he hasn't been behind the wheel since then (three years now). It just sits in his garage and he doesn't care. Never asks about it. Bonus for me though, since I take it out a few times a month on sunny days to cruise around. Probably put about 1000 miles a year on it and keep it detailed and running since I hate to see something that nice waste away. Oddly his own mom did the same thing with her Mercedes - just let it rot in the carport for a couple decades. Hard to figure out, really.

To be honest, if he offered to give it to me I wouldn't even take it - doesn't fit my needs in any way at all (besides basic transportation). But it's fun to cruise around in top down on occasion....

There are hundreds of millions of people in the US, with that large of a populace there are going to be thousands of new old car stories. Like the Chevy dealership in Nebraska that was all over the interweb a couple of years ago, they closed the doors back in the mid 60's and it just sat there for a few decades. Someone acquired it and auctioned off everything, lots of cool old cars from the 50's thru the mid 60's. Some new or less than 1,000 miles.

I had a mini-experience of newish old car when I was 16 years old and working an after school job at a Shell Service Station. The owner ran the station back when a gas station had mechanics and did minor repair work, brakes, radiators, tires, tune-ups and alignments. On the lot he would also have 3-4 used cars he would buy at auction and sell, typically 2-3 year old GM B body cars (Impala, Caprice, LeSabre, Bonneville)

So one day Elvin (the owner) got a call from someone wanting to sell a car. But it was an old car like 15+ years old, Elv wasn't interested but he agreed to look at it. The guy drove it in that afternoon which happened to be a day I was working my after school job. He and Elv were talking as I walked onto the lot and Evin called me over and said to the owner something like...it's a nice old car but it's not what my customers are looking for, it would be a nice car for a teenager...what do you think about this old car? as he walked away and left us standing there.

It was a 1959 Ford Custom 300. In 1959 Fairlane, Custom 300 and Galaxie were all the same body with different trim levels. This one was a 2 door V8 automatic, with a I shit you not...vacuum tube AM radio, turn it on wait 10-15 seconds and sound would ramp up as the tubes warmed up. That was the extent of the options: a radio, a heater and a V8. It had less than 20,000 miles on it as I recall, and then he gave me the back story. It was his father-in-laws car, a baptist preacher. It was the only brand new car he ever bought in 1959 at 60 some years old. The old boy drove it 2 or 3 years, had a stroke, went blind and never drove it again. The adult children in the family tried to teach mom how to drive it but she wasn't interested. So it sat in the garage, it would be driven by one of the family members here and there to keep it going and they had it serviced yearly...because the old boy loved that car.

So why are you selling it now? I asked. The old guy had died a few years back and now Mom is moving in with us and were selling off everything we don't have room for. So I asked how much he wanted for it expecting it to be more than my $1.25/hr job could match. How about $200? Deal. Drove it 6 years before being center punched by an idiot running a stop sign.

It looked like this but all bronze not white over bronze

Yes I agree. The owner of the website is a car enthusiast and journalist named Doug DeMuro. You’ve probably heard of him on YouTube. Cars&Bids is probably the best and most underrated car auction website on the internet. I like how they don’t sell ordinary cars either because every car has to meet some criteria of quirkiness, rarety, value and condition.

Ok, so which one should I buy? The red 1994 V6 4x4 has 64k original miles, original paint and looks like new inside and out. The black 1987 4 banger 4x4 has 86k original miles, new paint job and new wheels and tires but needs some interior work like door panels, speakers, etc... Both are manual of course.IMG_0960.jpg IMG_0961.jpg

Red. I think trucks from that era look good in stock nowadays. People would pay good money for something like that too. I love The later pickup models and early Tacomas. So expensive though lol

I'd go red. I know everyone old enough to care about back to the future loves the black one but I don't like the tube bumpers and the original paint and graphics on the red one are cool. I wouldn't want to have to mess with fixing up an interior either.

The eBay seller has 0 feedback and the owner has had it one year. I couldn't run from that listing fast enough.
