Gutless rust bucket. 97+ 4.6 2v is best.

It sounds like a bad idea to sell a 2009 and buy a 95. Tacoma should tow a Rzr just fine I’d think.

I had an 85 and 95 F150 with that engine. One of the best engines ever made. It was designed for heavy duty applications such as school buses, smaller dump trucks, and delivery trucks. It was used in light duty pickups as an afterthought. It used to be the base engine in F250 and F350's. UPS used that engine for years in their vans. They pulled the engines out and rebuilt them every 300,000 miles whether they needed it or not. They develop a decent amount of torque, and do it under 2000 rpm. You'll have to go with a diesel today to get torque down that low. Fuel mileage isn't great.

The key is the gears. My 85 had 3.08 gears and was weak. The 95 had 3.55's and was night and day better. The 95 is one I wish I could have back.

Of course it is a 25 year old truck. I wouldn't be happy with the Tacoma you have either, but I'd be hesitant to buy something that old no matter how good they were back in the day.

That's funny. I traded my 95 for a 98 with the 4.6. My 95 was a regular cab and by 1998 I needed a back seat. That was a gutless wonder. I would have probably been happy with the 5.4 and I understand they improved the 4.6 after 2003. But the pre-2004 4.6L was a joke in a truck. Pretty decent car engine.

Had an 85 Bronco 4x4 with 300 I6 and a manual 4 speed with OD.

Great combo, was a great rig.

That’s a fine truck and highly sought after. The 300 is one of the best engines ever produced.

I don't know anything about the gas ones.

I know a diesel one (probably manual) smoked my Tacoma at a green light, despite being much older.

Take it from a Ford guy I have a few super duties that are my company trucks

Keep the Tacoma unless you have money to spare and then buy the ford and use it for a work truck and spare scratching the Taco

Buy it and decide later. That truck is in good condition for it’s age.
