MAF sensor, maybe? I had to replace mine on my '96 for similar issues. Codes? I think some '95s were OBD2.

Only codes today were igniter circuits and I replaced the ignition control module. This was because it set an engine light. It now starts fine. It still has the skip it has had since we bought it4 years ago. Almost like it loses all fire or fuel. It really jerks when under acceleration, yet no codes. Like I stated new fuel pump, distributor, ignition box, plugs and wires

Have you ever replaced the valve cover but more importantly the spark plug tube gaskets? IMG_7945.jpg

My 96 2.7 began doing that a while back. Blown head gasket was the cause.

I think we have had this about 4 or 5 years and it has always done it. We have had multiple people look at it and replace parts. I will do a compression test and check.

For a little more context on mine, if I was driving on flat ground it would only do it occasionally. But as soon as you started going up any kind of grade and try to maintain a steady RPM it would start jerking and bucking like fuel loss. Never a code or anything.

I’m not sure. I know my son hasn’t checked them since we bought the truck. I have just started checking things myself. My son has been driving it for years just like it is until it didn’t start the other day and that’s when I got involved and it had set a code for the igniter and I replaced it and that resolved that issue. I never realized how bad the jerking was until I test drove it. I’ll try and check clearance this weekend. Thanks for your input.

Ahh, makes sense, you have been kept in the dark. If she isnt sound mechanically no amount of parts cannon will fix it.

I wouldn’t say it wasn’t sound. The engine runs extremely well at idle, no rattling or knocking even when accelerating, but when driving under even the slightest load it will nearly give you whiplash until you find that sweet spot. The compression being 160,140,140,140 psi’s isn’t awful, but I didn’t understand #1 being 20 higher and we checked them all twice.

Next test is the throttle position test… should be a 4 wire TPS. Unplug the connector, one wire should have +5v DC. One wire should be ground. The third wire is the idle switch, continuity between the ground and this pin with the connector removed with the throttle closed, the 4th wire is a variable resistor… I suspect that the windings where the wiper contact are worn and there is an intermittent connection.
