The rust on my frame has reached the point that the shock mount just broke off. Welder says he can't do anything with what's left. Toyota said that it was not bad enough to be a part of the recall. Does anyone know if you can still buy frames for this truck? I'm having no luck.

I've owned it for 20 years and its just a woods rig for me. 6 cylinder, 5 speed manual with only 76,000 miles. It's in great shape except for the frame. I'm willing to put a new frame under it if I can find one. Ideas?

There was one for sale not too long ago on here. Not sure where your location is, but I THINK I saw it in the New England area.

1995's were part of the buyback program that ended several years ago, the 2001(?) - 2004 Tacomas were eligible for the recall program but had to have been inspected by March of this year IIRC. Unfortunately Toyota won't be able to do anything for you (unless you order a new frame through them but that's crazy expensive). Best bet would be to find a donor truck, one with a bad engine/trans but a good frame that you could swap in.

    Please post pictures !!

I think this is a case of who you consulted did not want to be bothered with the work.

I have never seen any frame that something could not be done weather cost effective that is another thing to think about.

If this is just a broken upper shock mount where it ripped off the top of the frame that is a case of buying a new shock mount fixing what part of the frame broke off with the shock mount .

This is quite a common failure and I have fixed a few of these over the years

Had to do the patch on my wife's 95 as had the same happen. Now the rail under the box on the right side has rotted away as well. The road cancer from the salt in Iowa did the nasty deed. As the previous posted said it can be done but cost effective is another question.
