I know there are a lot of posts out there on manual trans swaps but a lot of them I see for the double cabs. I have a general idea of what parts you need and what needs to be done but I’m wanting to know how possible it is to do this swap and any advice is appreciated. As for ECU’s I rather swap in an ECU that controlled a manual trans but I wanna get as much insight as possible. My truck is a 1995.5 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I just did this swap, unless you have a donor truck or your state doesn't do vehicle testing don't bother. The 4cyl really wakes up with a manual but the issue is your computer and wiring harness are for an auto only, and you'd have to trick the computer into believing it is still there afterward. Not to mention your crossmember is too far forward, so you'd have to cut and reweld it back about 4in or so to hold the manual. You'd need new driveshafts as well, plus all of the clutch assembly items. It is a big job. The reason you see so many V6 trucks do it is because they don't need to move their crossmember and they can switch computers without switching wiring harnesses. If I didn't have a complete donor truck I wouldn't have bothered, because gathering all the parts separately is a nightmare plus having to weld in your own crossmember (which I still had to do). I flipped my truck and bought another to swap everything into, for a while I wished I had bought a manual truck to replace it because it made the swap that much harder. Live an learn, I have plenty of info and pics of the process if you decide for some reason that you want to tackle it.
