Hello, I have a bit of a problem I could use some help with. I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma with 240,000 miles. It is a 3.4 with the 5 speed manual. The truck has been extremely well maintained. I drove home one day and when I was going to leaving for school the next day it would not start. It would try to start for a second, then crank with no results. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and checked the relay. I also checked the timing belt, it is good and tight. It has spark on all cylinders and it cranks normally. However, the truck will not run, even on carb cleaner. It is my daily driver so I am getting worried.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Sounds to me like it is not a fuel delivery issue then. Could be a bad crank position sensor, mass airflow sensor, and I know on the 3RZ the temp sensor on the back of the head will cause a crank no start but not sure with the 5VZ.

Does it at least sputter or anything on starting fluid? any difference at all?

Have you tried to jump the relay and see if the pump turns on? These things don't actually "prime" the fuel lines like most vehicles. You put the key in the ON position and you won't hear the fuel pump. It only pumps when cranking and after it starts.

Seems like a problem my buddy had just crank and no start intermittently. Ended up being frayed wires on the crank position sensor. E-taped it and it started right up. Start looking/checking sensors.

Well, I got it. The problem was the mass air flow sensor. I unplugged it last night and it ran (poorly). I replaced it this morning and it is back to normal. Thanks for your help!
