I recently did a routine oil change on my 1995 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4,with a TRD Supercharger kit.

I did not change the oil on the supercharger.

I noticed a tapping sound coming from the supercharger, almost like the sound you would hear (coming from the lifters) when the oil in the engine is low.

I am not sure how often I am suppose to change the oil on the supercharger, or what type of oil I should use?

Does this sound like an oil problem or something else?

    Thanks

Are the bearings in the supercharger full floating Anti friction? If so Generally there would be no " Tick" because the only oil in the charger is flo the splines in place to reduce axial and end play. But I'm not super familiar with those superchargers, more familiar with Diesel superchargers so maybe i didn't help much lol Is there a sight glass on the SC you could see the oil level that way.

One thing you can do for sure is take a long screw driver and hold it to your ear on the grip end while placing the head around the motor narrowing down the exact spot of the tick. Recently mine starting ticking from the EVAP solenoid and I freaked out for a moment before reading some write ups on the issue, so yours may not be life threatening. Report back.

I brought it down to Toyota, and had it checked out.

The SC is perfect and the tapping sound was actually coming from a loose spark plug.

It literally took them less than 5 minutes to diagnose and fix. All set, back to normal and charge$$$.

    Thanks.
