So still trying to pin point what the hell is causing all my problems, I started checking how much amperes are being drawn with the engine off and the ignition turned on. I'll get either 2.77A or -1.69A so I know theres gotta be a faulty wire. thing that is really confusing me is that after after pulling fuses and re testing I'm still getting a reading of 2.77A. Shouldn't removing the fuse that the faulty wire is on drop my amperes down to a normal reading?

keep in mind the first half is untrue for our trucks though. mainly because our computers, radios, and some with alarms are constantly drawing power from the battery. and use caution while youre at it. leaving just the negative connected runs the risk of static shock running through and potentially frying a small chip. so keep that test light between the positive and its cable.

still have not figured it out... When i used a test light the fuse that'd make it not light up is the 15a dome in the engine compartment.

I have had internally regulated alternators , draw current with the key and engine off.
I did not recall if you have replaced the alternator.
I will reread your thread .

So after a quick scan of your first post.
Does your truck have a reciever with a round plug for trailer lights?
In that plug is a lead , 12 volts, to charge a battery in like a camp trailer etc .....
Unplug the trailer harness , see if you dont have 14.5 volts at an idle , and if your problems go away.
I am thinking that harness has been pinched to ground .
