Anyone deal with weird vibrations after a small lift? Carrier bearing? U joints or is the drive shaft out of pinion angle? 1.5 inches in the rear. Intermittent and between 2-3.5k rpm

Yeah its not a surprise after a susp lift goes on, especially a taco with a lot of miles. Those items you mention are exactly what to check.
Some start with the shims for correcting angle and some find a suspect u-joint to attack the vibes with. I think I'd pull the prop shaft and inspect the joints with prop shaft removed. Also the carrier bearing while shaft is removed. If that checks out as okay move on to measure the pinion angle and shim the axle. I've seen how to measure that stuff on here on TW or youtubes and online if you're looking for more specific instruction on the measuring part. I know I did. :D

Are you going to do anything with the scale rust?

This is a soft spot on then Tacoma and probably rust is working its way through from the back side.
Those shock mounts on the back sides seem to cause rust issues because how they were designed and
hold dirt and water in there

Did you cut the whole shock bracket out of the frame on the back side?

It already rusted out when I bought it so I had it boxed in last year. Saving for the full box plates to do the whole section but moving to the high desert so not too concerned. It’s also boxed on the bottom of the c channel so it will take a while to eat through all that especially with the coating I’m giving it tomorrow

Did the sound deadening mats in the doors make a big difference in how loud it is in the cab?

I just powered through this thread...nice work! That truck is going to be a gem when you're all done.

I have 2 questions if you don't mind:
    1. What sound deadening mat did you use? Noico 80?
    2. What do you plan to do about some of the minor body dents and bumps? I just got a 2001 and am thinking about a restoration in some form

I’m going to get some paint work done but no real plans for the dents at this point. Built it to use it. Most of the restoration work I’m doing is functional. Yes to noico 80
