You are absolutely right on with that procedure of removal Yodigity. I returned the new starter and new switch. I'll just wait til it happens again, I feel though that is the area of our problem or somewhere in my battery cables, I need to get the troubleshooting guide to meter that part of the truck system to see if at some point it's not sending enough current or voltage, maybe there is some sort of flat spot on the cycle of the key on the switch, but it's hard when everything goes back to normal and gives you no sign the problem ever existed. Ugh.
Good luck brother let me know for sure if you have no signs of your issue resurfacing, I know it's tuff when it's only 5% of the time.

How old is the starter? Has it been rebuilt? I had an issue awhile back where the engine wouldn't start or would take a few times. I'd turn the key and get some clicks. My uncle gave the starter a light tap with a hammer and that make it start. I ordered a starter rebuilt kit - was like $15 - rebuilt it and that solved the issue.

Unfortunately the ignition switch didn't fix my problem. So far I have changed the Starter, Battery, Starter Relay and the Ignition switch.

The problem: Occasionally when I turn the key to start my truck it doesn't start right away. Today I held the key down and the start initiated a few seconds later. Not right away. Is there another switch some where that may be bad? I'm contemplating taking it to a shop instead of throwing more parts at it, but maybe it's possible another easy fix.

I remember having a mazda, sometimes it wouldn't start. Ended up rocking the steering wheel and selector transmission handle and it would start! Not knowing very much about your situation is it only doing it when cold/hot, engine cold/hot? That's the only guess I have left. Is their a safety switch that needs to be engage that's worn out?

Fuck dude, he asked for more things to check and failed to say he checked his cables since you mentioned battery cables, thus my "battery cables...." comment. As in, like dont forget. Then in post 24 all you mentioned was "safety switch" i thought it made more sense to quote johnnys response since he actually offered what the two possible switches were...sorry to steal your thunder....
