The amount of people in this thread that have absolutely no idea what they're talking about and trying to give advice, do your own actual research. Not Facebook either. Real factual information. 3rz 2.7s are straight rippers and built right absolute animals. So much so that they were swapped into cars and built to 1000hp. And they were amazing. They took the beating too. True store. Multiple formula drift programs ran them in multiple cars for years. They're light. They're way easier to work on. Stock 3.4 v6s only make... Wait for it, 15-20 hp more stock. Can you breathe with your head that far up yourself? Yes they have to be built to make 1000hp but every motor does. Now this is where the 3rzs come out on top. Every bit of Maintenance is easier to do, every part to be replaced or upgraded is easier, cheaper(only price not quality....depending on what uou get) and more abundant. I could have a 500 pony 3rz that'll make 3.4s look like a 22r for 1/4 of the price. 3.4s are the single most over rated motor ever. If you really wanted to make power and willing to spend as much as a 3.4 cost. Get a 2jz. It'll blow everything out of the water and be just as hard of a swap. But at least your getting what you pay for.

Also. Yes alot of times motors won't make more power with some bolt ons. But its not the bolt ons faults, you can't have huge gains without proper management, you to build and have alot of power. I'd say turbo but even n/a a new ecu programmed for you is where you'd really see the power come in. And this is where people really show their ass. Most stock ecus are at a healthy long lasting tune. If you change that with all stock parts and get let's say 250 then you change everything but the ecu, and you only get like 253. It's because your tune needs to reflect the changes. But you should still notice small changes. I just did my whole exhaust and the better ebay header(going turbo eventually) did a ebay cold air intake but upgraded to a 5"outlet k&n and random stuff like that. I've got 35s but haven't geared yet. Before I struggled. Now I spin the 35s no problem. And it sounds great. Smh some people. Don't believe everything you see on the internet

3rz to 2Rz bebuilt block and new heads
IF these engines are such a terrible design ......even the lastest 2tr-fe's are essentially the same engine......
64 years and counting.....22re is a young 'em compared to these.....and completely different lineage....

3rz's were first produced in 1959 for the new mid-size sedans coming out...
2rz's come out two years later.

too bad the oem heads were built for a cheap economy truck....buckets and shims....super simple cheap design.......thats where 99% of these go to the great beyond.....burnt valve or over heat......
