    Hello TW,

So my Dad bought a 97 TRD xtra cab with 83,000 for $4900 (Sweet Deal), and it has power locks and windows. When he bought it, the seller gave him a key, but no key fob. I am wondering if the 97's had key fobs?

If so how can he get one?

    Thanks,
    Tom

I don't think that option was available in 1997. My 2002 has no key fob.

I read the manual online. it appears that is case, it's sort of funny that it wasn't an option. We haven't picked up the truck yet

It would ONLY have a fob if it had a RS3000 security system preinstalled. Youll know if this is the case if you see the little Toyota Security panel on the dash (the glass break microphone).

I had this light/microphone on mine, but i didnt get a fob when i bought mine from a local car lot. I bought mine off ebay, then had to take the lower dash out from under the steering column to get to the program button on the alarm ECU. It works perfectly now.

There is a black and a grey key fob, which one you need depends on the year of your car, and they are not interchangeable.
