Finally after all these years I sprung for a set of kings.

 

when you get those installed and working i would like to experience how they ride on rough roads to see the difference of what i am currently riding on since those are a big money item

What were you running before?

 

I just had the Monroe Quick struts nothing special I'm running a stock suspension because it's a daily driver hopefully these don't raise the front end up to high

So I have the Kings up front and I got Bilstien 5100s for the back.

The Kings a pretty dam nice compared to what I’ve been used too,
(Monroe Quick struts, Bilstiens yellow struts and trd coils)
The Kings eat up the poles holes and wash boards extremely well now.
Before I always would be nervous hitting poles holes or road damage because
it would be so jarring and sometimes scary depending on the road damage making the truck jump and not planted.

The Kings are a game changer. They eat up theses road issues fantastically.

Washboards and road damage and poles are NOT a problem anymore.

Steering wheel doesn’t try jumping out of your hands too when hitting these conditions.

Truck feels really well planted all the time and even going around a corner with speed
the truck doesn’t dip or tilt or lean as much.

It did end up raising the front end 1.5” even at the lowest setting but my helper springs I have give a rake to the truck.
So the trucks pretty much level now, maybe just a hair lower in the back.

Also the cool option is they are adjustable so the drivers side strut is cranked up
1 1/2 turns higher than the passenger side and now there’s NO TACO LEAN anymore.

I ended putting the 600 pound springs on. I think they have made the truck more stiff tho.
So my ride is definitely not a Cadillac ride especially tied with helper springs in the rear
for the trailer.
Possibly I should have gone with the 550 pounds springs because I have a regular cab.

You can push down on any corner of the truck and it moves very little now and
comes back to the original height immediately,
No rocking or boat like bouncing

My truck will always be a bit stiff but that’s ok.

Overall very very happy.

 

mine was rocking like a boat! when i climb up into the bed to wash the top of the cabin it kind of sways side to side so i suppose that is not normal either

i have to find the right replacement shocks (for stock height) for the back when i have the bed off sometime in the next several months, should be easy to get those off then in the back for the first time

 

The rears are super Easy to replace just the way it is.
It took me 15 minutes to do the both in the rear replace and install

 

have you passed $100,000 yet in fuel expenditures on your truck?

 

Haha, I don’t think so, gas was way cheaper in 1997 compared to now

 

you must be close? i estimate around 2000 (probably more?) fill ups in 23 years
lots of wear and tear on the fuel door lock!

fuel prices started jumping around the time of Hurricane Katrina iirc

 

Don’t know, but the fuel door and lock are still working perfectly

 

my fuel door returned to like new! never been better! after the Nut-Z lube treatment, it was starting to stick and worried me about it snapping
my Dad gave me a bad habit of writing down all the gas miles and prices in a notebook running out of pages after all these years
